Jim White head vs Bogen 701rc2 fluid head

The original Jim White head doesn't have much fluid dampening like its name might imply. I don't know about the new Jim White head though. I like a head that actually has some sort of fluid in the head to dampen its motion. The head I use is the Bogen 3160 pan head. They don't make this head any more but you can find it on ebay for around $50.00. I like it better than the 701 that replaced it. It's not as light as the Jim White but it pans alot better IMO!

I have two jim white heads. They are the best for hunting and packing around. I have the quick attachments on two spotting scopes, two binoculars, and a camera. Quality item.

With my Leica 10 to 15 Duovids I still prefer a pistol grip, specificly the Outdoorsmans Pistol Grip Head with a Panning Attachment. If I want to use a pan head I like the 701rc2 or the Outdoorsmans lightweight Pan Head.

I just recently got the Jim White head and love it. It is the smoothest head I have ever seen. I just took a glassing class with Duwane Adams a couple weeks ago and he said that is what he uses also. Super light weight and bullet proof.
