Hey just wanted to drop a quick Thumbs up to Vortex !! I called their warranty office Wednesday morning told the lady I was not happy with the repair/recondition job they did on the 15x50 Viper HD's I sent in too them awhile back. The lady I was talking too asked me a few ?? & said she would get me an RA # out right away !! I told her I was hunting fri sat & sun .. Next day I get a brand new pair of 15x50 HD binos dropped off on my doorstep !! . Hard to beat that kind of No nonsense warranty & service

LAST EDITED ON Oct-01-19 AT 11:32PM (MST)[p]Vortex has a great warranty in my opinion I have been happy also with their service

Yeah that's great and all.... But you had to do the process twice to get a sub par optic back in acceptable shape. Hard to beat having to warranty twice.....

Sub par optic WOW I guess to each his own !!!My binos needed very little repair work If any really !! I have looked thru Zeiss & Swaro binos many many times both in stores & in the field . And when I can see the same buck bull or whatever as clear thru my $800 binos as my buddies $3000 binos I think I am good !!!! I dont see the point in spending the extra $$ But knock yourself out & buy yourself a pair.. As for warranty I know for a fact that Swaro or Zeiss sure as Hell are NOT going to send you a brand new pair of their binos NO questions asked like Vortex did !!

Oldhunter do not let the haters get too you. Some people just want too run everything and everyone down. I think there is a saying for it but fonder would not be happy if I used it on this site.
I own Vortex because of the warranty, I work hard for the money I spend so it is nice to have a company back up there products like Vortex and give us sub par individuals a break.

the chinese get $7 for those.....they could send you 50 and still be flush....

LOL. What do the Austrians get...?

Oh hell NO I read a lot of these posts & it amazes the Hell out of me the negative comments a lot of these Ass Hats post. I get a good laugh !! And when I am sitting on a hillside watching & counting
points on a buck or bull 3/4 of a mile away with my Shitty warranty $800 crap binos !!! Kinda chuckle again

Glad to hear they got you taken care of so quickly.

Vortex customer service/warranty does get a lot of attention. I think it's because a lot of their products end up back at customer service to get fixed. The few pair I have owned have all had to be sent back for some reason or another.

For the price they are hard to beat, but a warranty is worthless when you are miles from the truck/town.

Just curious, what do you consider "average" optics if Vortex is "sub-par"?

I have to agree with you fully.
I jumped on the Vortex bandwagon years ago due to the overall quality vs. price point to comparable products from other manufacturers.
I had to use the VIP warranty this year on a Razor 4000 rangefinder that crapped out on me during a hunt. Although I was pissed that I had to hunt 4 days without a rangefinder before I came off of the mountain as it was brand new & had only been used a few times. However, I was blown away at how accommodating & promptly they replaced my rangefinder. I had a new one in hand before the following weekend.
I own Leupold, Swarovski & Trijicon optics in addition to the Vortex & in my opinion Vortex is a great product for the money & their warranty process is unbelievable.

Sorry I was at Disneyland so didn't check the forum. Viper Hds are sub par binoculars 100%. If you need to warranty something twice because of a problem maybe its the optics quality that's the problem.

I sold my swaro and leica when I went back to college and got the whole vortex razor line. They preformed good for what there price is but the extra minutes you get at dawn and dusk with Swaro/Leica/Kowa/Zeiss is well worth the money. That is why I got rid of the vortex as soon as I could. Luckily I did not have any warranty issues but I know too many people that have had them.

The only vortex line I would even touch anymore is there Razor rifle scopes.

Still curious what brand you would consider "average" optics. Binos in particular.

People say this all the time, and I agree to a point, but there are whole lot more people hunting with vortex optics than there is swaros. I think it creates a little bit of a false perception that the vortex warranty gets used a lot. Plus there is the other factor of, if you have a warranty, why not use it. I know people who have used the vortex warranty to fix things that didn't really inhibit the function of the optic, more just the appearance.

I also believe vortex optics get abused a bit more than people abuse their swaros. So while the swaros might be more durable, it's hard to really tell cause everybody pulls the kid gloves out on expensive optics and the vortex get thrown and bounced around.

I'm not even a huge vortex fan, but just don't think the perception that Vortex's warranty gets used more than everybody else is being completely fair to them. I've owned a couple of their products over the years and they've been a good value at the price and never had to warranty anything myself. Not my favorite stuff, but it is nice for the average guy to know he has something to fall back on.

Razor line, Zeiss conquest, maven b series, kowa bd xd, Tract toric, Athlon Cronus and Meopta Meopro are some average Binos.

Zeiss Victory, Swaro el and slc, Leica Noctovid and Ultravid hd, Kowa Genesis, Meopta meostar are some high end Binos. Some Nikon hg?s are some Binos to consider in that high end range too with a lower price tag but great performance.

Now with that I have not spent a good amount of time behind the new UHD Binos when I do I will let you know what I think about them though.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-08-19 AT 08:51AM (MST)[p]I sent in a pair of older Zeiss binos that are no longer made and they sent me a brand new pair of binos (slightly higher quality)! I know this is not always the case, but I guess they thought it was an easier fix for them or mine were not repairable. They never called, binos just showed up at the door.

I am one for one having to use the VorTx warranty on my 1 VorTx optic. not sure if I will buy them again, but their warranty and customer service is definitely awesome.

Their QC is garbage, I looked through 3 set of new razors in the store a few weeks back, diopter set the same on each and there was quite a range of optical quality variation.

For the money there are lots of better optics at the same price point all the way around..

There are a whole lot more people hunting with Vortex optics because they have a lot of lower end lines of optics unlike other top tier optics companies.
Vortex warranty is a good warranty but not if you need to use it on a regular basis. They do take care of the customer though. I've know an instance where Swarovski overnight a loaner pair of binos to a hunter in the field so he could continue his hunt also. That's top quality service and top quality optics IMO.

well....it happened in Nevada last week....My SLC's took a crap....only one eye will focus....lol

They are headed for warranty repair....thank god I had an extra pair....

Hey wanted to see what the customer service was on fixing or replacing your Swaro's ?? Just curious if it was a NO ? asked replace or fix

I once accidentally rolled my backpack down a mountain and my swarovski spotter objective lens ended up being egg shaped and the eyepiece was wobbly. Swarovski fixed it free of charge.
Vortex is a great entry level bino and when you can afford something better you can upgrade in Vortex as well. One thing true about optics is you pay for what you get. Vortex is not on the level of the big 3 but thats ok. The price is also a lot less which reflects the statement that you get what you pay for. I say buy what you can afford and go hunting. Vortex has a great warranty and you might have to use it and maybe or maybe not more often. But again that is reflected in price. Who cares. Just enjoy your hunt. fatrooster.

wish i could afford the high dollar scopes but now i can't. i've been happy with my diamondback series binocs and spotter. had binocs for about 8 years and finally contemplating sending in for repair - one eyecup came off when I grabbed it there to pull it out of (mostly closed zipper) backpack. Happened a second time about a year later. It went back on and seems fine, but one day it probably won't. agree with above post about folks handling vortex a bit rougher than higher priced glass....
