I bought a new pair of Leica Geovid HD-R binoculars at the end of January 2017. Do to work and life schedule I did not have a chance to use them in the field until May 3 on my sons first archery pig hunt. On the one good opportunity we had the binoculars would not range and neither of us felt comfortable with him taking the shot without knowing the range. I was pretty annoyed my new $2,500 binoculars were not working properly, but hey it happens I guess

I contacted Leica the next week and within a day I had a shipping label to return the binoculars. I was told it would be 8-12 weeks to repair. I would have thought a new (only had 3 hours in the field) set of binoculars in this price range that didn't work would just be replaced, but 8-12 weeks I should have them back before or during A zone archery season. Fast forward 18 weeks, past unreturned phone calls and shined on phone calls, I get the ?we sometimes get screwed by customs holding orders up?. I mentioned I am the one without my binoculars, I paid a premium for, leaving on an expensive out of state hunt next week (18 weeks into a 8-12 week repair) and couldn't understand how their faulty product needing to be repaired in a time frame they set is ?screwing them?. Mind you he didn't say they were held up or had been held up in customs, but that sometimes shipments get held up. I have three sets of Leica binoculars, but have purchased my last Leica product. I was undecided what spotting scope to purchase for my trip and it looks like a new Swarovski spotting scope will be joining me. Along with a premium price tag premium products should be top quality and come with premium service.

In contrast my buddy sent in two, several year old, Leupold range finders, one for service and one to repair, and had two new upgraded versions delivered to his door 19 days later.

Pretty typical of Leica! Can't go wrong with Swarovski!!! Their service is top notch and products are amazing. They have my business for life.
Hope it works out and good luck on your hunt.

Sorry to hear of your problem with Leica. I had a similar experience with them but they sent me a new pair to use while they fiddled around. VERY POOR service and attitude.

Years ago I researched companies, before buying a scope. Several had good warranties. Two stood out as the most hassle free warranties. Leopold and Swarovski. Put a Leopold on the rifle and Swarovski binos on the harness.
