I did a search and found a few topics.

But now that people have had a better "field test".

Which boots would you buy, Crispi or Kenetrek? And why?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

All three brands are very good boots, but most importantly you need to figure out which one really fits you. I have had very good luck with Schnees and Crispis both. Zamberlans are another very good boot that is worth a look.

Asking about boots is like asking which truck is best to buy. You'll get a lot of opinions.

I have owned Kennetreks, Crispi and Zamberlans. Crispi is my boot of choice. I own 3 pairs now. Fit my foot perfectly in my normal size, very comfortable, lightweight, good support, good traction and rands for the rocks.

Prior to the Cripis, I bought a pair of Kennetrek Mtn Extreme's from a guy that didn't like the fit. They were basically new. They fit me Ok but try as I may, I couldn't get them to ever be "break in" comfortable. Kennetrek has a loyal following but you will also notice a lot of Kennetrek's for sale. They are very stiff for sure.

Zamberlans - weirdest fitting boot I have tried. I returned the first pair and tried another model and had the same problem. It's been 3-4 years since I tried them so I don't remember the exact fit issue but I'll never own another pair.

Ive tried them all, Crispi is the best for me, I convinced a friend who has bad feet to get the Crispi and he loves them.

Between the two you listed, Crispi. Most recent are the Briksdal GTX's.

Kennetrek a no go for me because of the hill fit and blister issue.

Hanwag Llhasa are very comfortable out of the box. Got scratched instantly on side - no rand to speak of, but didnt wear any more than that in two years of hard early season backpack hunting. Check em out. I looked for crispi s but could never find any close to home to check into b4 buying.

I have a few pair of Kenetrek's and like them so far. However, they are a very stiff boot which suits my needs. It also took me several miles and lace adjustments until I got them broke in and fitting the way I wanted. I am considering getting a pair of Crispi's in the near future though. I hear good things about others who are wearing them and their build seems like they would be comfortable. I am also kicking around the idea of getting a pair of Lathrop & Sons (custom fit).

As mentioned, fit is everything and what works for one doesn't mean it works for you. Crispi's get great reviews and I went to a Scheels with the full intention of buying a pair. But trying them on around the store they just didn't feel right to me. Maybe with a proper break in they might have worked, but I hate to struggle getting a boot to feel comfortable.

I then tried on a pair of Kenetrek and they felt much better on my feet, although plenty stiff. I had read reviews that classified them as a "love or hate" boot and that the big complaint was not getting them broke in. Kenetrek recommends 50 mile break in period and to be honest at mile 30 I was questioning my choice. But I gave them time and now think they are the best boot I've ever worn. I wonder if the reason you see them for sale is that guys give up before getting the recommended 50 miles on them. I've since picked up a pair of used but like new Mountain Extremes for half the price of new. Still working on the break in, but am confident they will be great as well.

Mountain Extreme uninsulated are best boot I've ever owned. That's in 50 years of boot experience. They took virtually no break in. Like said before feet are all different you need to find whats right for you.
