Well after 10 years I drew a my first pronghorn tag. As a kid pronghorn was the first animal I ever wanted to hunt. I'm going to try to make this hunt my first ever family hunt. Wife, my 8 year old and my 6 year old. Very excited, but a little nervous about dragging the whole family along.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Perfect hunt to drag the family along, my advice make it stress free and have fun...

I don't know anything about the unit...

Antelope hunt is a great hunt to introduce the family to hunting. You typically see a number of antelope from the vehicle so it is exciting and keeps there attention. Was the first big game animal my two boys and wife took.

They can watch from vehicle when you go on a stalk or if sitting by water hole they can wait with you if in a blind to cover their movement. Depending on the terrain when stalking the family might be able to tag along if you have cover like cedars. All my antelope hunts have been family friendly and it makes it so much fun when you get something to have the family there.

My boys and wife did enjoy learning about antelope as I explained everything when I was cleaning them out, skinning them and putting the meat on ice right away.

Lastly usually the weather is real nice so that makes it even more enjoyable.

I'm not sure why you picked puddle valley but I hope you have a trailer to camp in.
There is very little shade out there and the winds can be brutal.
If it rains a lot, the roads out there become near impassable but there are a fair amount of pronghorn to be had.

I liked the fact that it there was lots of roads, very open, and I was told by a few people that there we a good number of pronghorn. All this was based on the fact that I was going to try to make it a family hunt. My plan at the moment was to just get a hotel to make it a more pleasurable experience for the family.

If it looks like rain should I get a side by side?

A side by side would he very useful. You could also stay in lake point. Which is about 45 min. from your unit.
