General Unit, Late Muzzy Hunts

So I'm in ?No-Mans-Land? with NR LE deer points.

So since they instituted the November Muzzy hunts, that's the hat i?ve been throwing my name in.

My question is anybody that has hunted one of those hunts, is it worth it?

Probably couldn't draw any LE hunt anyways. I guess just looking for confirmation on my thought process.

I looked into a couple of those hunts on units I know very well with my "no mans land" points and decided against it. The biggest reason being that it opens 3 days after the general rifle ends and the deer can get a little scarce unless we get some weather to settle things down. The second week of that hunt could be pretty good with a little weather and if the rut gets started. If it would have opened one week later, I would have dropped my dozen points on it, no question.

DL,

I thought of that and thought it's a double edge sword.

Pressure could bump a good buck, or keep em nocturnal.

But you might get a good, real time tip from an elk hunter.

I know if I was deer hunting and saw a great bull, I would share.

I Know here it Ain't been to Good for the Guys that have Tried it!

The Few Big Bucks left if there are any have seen so much Hunting Pressure You're not gonna see them!

A Real Good Hunter a couple years ago did get a 3 Point!

Another Kid got a 2 Point!

I know so many people in so many places
They make allot of money but they got sad faces

It Ain't Easy being Me!:D:D:D

I think Shadow nailed it. It's basically right after the rifle hunt ends and doesnt go late enough to really catch heavy rut action. I as well have looked into it and I cant justify burning the amount of points they are taking. They need to bump the dates a little later to make it a little more tempting.

Twenty some-odd years ago the general muzzy hunt used to be after the rifle hunt in early November and it was easier to find nice bucks as they started going into the rut and chasing does. The only thing I didn't like about it is that the days are quite a bit shorter.

>I'll let you know. I
>drew the Wasatch East LE
>hunt this year with 6
>NR bonus points.

That should be a decent hunt...

>I drew a Mt Dutton late
>muzzy tag. 5 NR points,
>hope it's a good hunt.
>

That will be a fun hunt

LAST EDITED ON May-31-19 AT 12:32PM (MST)[p]i would be satisfied with a 150"-160" class buck, myself. Let's hope we get some weather.

Well, there are only random draw tags for NRs so congratulations to you both.

I think I have 11-12 NR deer points and haven't drawn despite putting in for one of those hunts every year since they instituted them.

But they change which units have that hunt yearly.

And i?ve been applying near the Nevada border when that hunt is offered.

Thanks for the replies.
