Im heading out to Iowa this fall and Ive been hearing rumor of EHD hitting in some areas. Ill be hunting in zone 4. Any you Iowa guys confirm the severity. Not that its going to change my already set in stone plans...

I live in zone 4 and I think there's some around every year but I haven't heard of any around here yet. We're starting to get some rain now and if it keeps up I don't think there will be a problem.

I am also a zone 4 resident and would agree cases like the one posted are pretty isolated. Usually a bigger problem during drought years. But, definitely can occur in places any given year. In general I would say the number of mature bucks continues to bounce back from our bad ehd years previously. Seems to be plenty of mature deer the places I hunt. Good luck to you.

Sounds like that Warren county is this years hotspot for it. Thats the area that continues to come up in my news feed.

The OP said he had a zone 4 tag and Warren county is in zone 5 but we still have about a month or more left until first frost so it could change in zone 4. Just something we have to live with.

Glad its not in your area 12pointer, lookin forward to that 10 on your trail cam pics hittin the ground! Figured I'd post whats out there for anyone else seeing the thread title that might be heading that way.
