I have 4 non resident points and plan to use them this year in Colorado. The units I'm looking at that I should be able to get with four points are 70, 62, (52,411,521) I'm looking at 70 just because I have hunted it twice and know the area better. Before you say they have all gone down hill I already am aware of that. I'm just wondering if I should stick with 70 or if I should be looking at one of the others. Any feedback is much appreciated.

I know 70 & it's neighbor, 71/711 was very tough hunting last year for deer, but the elk were everywhere.
In our group of 13, we all tagged out with Elk, but only got 2 deer, and those two deer were marginal at best.

None of those units are really superstars or on the up swing right now... being that you somewhat know 70 I would stick with what you know. Knowing a unit typically goes further in killing mature deer versus searching for greener grass that doesn't always exist and going in essentially blind.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-20-19 AT 10:03AM (MST)[p]Thanks for the feedback so far. I know, it's really hard since it seems no matter where you go or what state your in Mule Deer have really taken a beating. It's a darn shame but I do appreciate the responses.

It sounds like you should hunt 70 for elk!!!

I would flip a coin between 52 and 62 and go for it.

Thanks maybe it is time to try something new. I'll go back and look because I remember one of those unit have a lot less tags so even though it may not have huge bucks less hunters is usually a better experience. Best of luck this year.
