What's access like in unit 18? What I mean is a lot of places I hunt have trails where you need a four wheeler to access a lot of areas and other spots I hunt roads are just so rough four wheelers get you around faster and easier. Having never been to 18 was curious if they were needed here or if they were pretty much unnecessary.
Thanks in advance

What species and what time of year?

Tons of roads and highly traveled hiking trails in 18 and 28.

You will be hard pressed to get away from people no matter what method of travel in that unit. It is a zoo. 4 wheelers, sxs, horses and on foot. Literally people everywhere. Large groups doing drives etc. You will have more luck finding a vantage point and letting people push the animals to you.
As far as access points, I have accessed from chimney rd above Kremmling to the east or the forest service roads west of granby and grand lake.
Only hunted it once and wont go back.

I especially like the ATV races in the morning. Everyone from town drives in and unloads there atvs and race up the mountain to claim there rock.

Lots of tags and young bucks. Hope you like 3 point bucks.

Thanks for the input, Im used to hunting high pressure areas, don't like it but when all you can pull our tags like that then you have to deal with it. Looks like all the cabin rentals I can find in that area are booked already so we will need to tent camp or bring a trailer to stay in and was mainly looking to see if we needed to bring a mode of transportation besides the pick-up to get around the unit. I would prefer not to bring anything but if it handicaps us then we would need to. Not afraid to hike actually prefer it but hiking miles on a ATV trail isn't what I want to do either.
