My Son and I drew 3rd season deer tag. Looking for a little help. Of the 3 units which is the one to concentrate on? What is a good map to purchase and where can I get it? I do have OnX for my GPS, but like to study paper map. Also would like to know where to focus our attention. What can we expect for deer density? Is there a possibility of seeing a 160 buck? Thank you for any help.

I would help with some basic info if I knew anything about the unit, but I don't.
I dont mean to sound rude, but how come you put in for units you have no idea about, then ask for information where to hunt?

My son and I have 7 points, and put in for the best odds to draw on those points. We put in with the thought of getting a good hunt and that fellow hunters would be willing to help

Wow, That statement really says it all.

Looks like 50% or better success rate, so you should be able to see some deer. When that happens, there is always the chance for a MM. Hope you and your son have a great hunt!

My wife and I hunted the third season back in 2012. We focused on 681 mainly. We didnt hunt 68 much. 682 is mainly private and ag ground if I remember right. She shot a freak buck (main beam dropped down below his jaw then back up) but not a high scorer. I hunted a really good buck the last day after we finally got some snow but he showed me why he got that size by giving me the slip. Could have taken a couple ok four points but opted to let em go, let them grow. We had blue bird weather most of the season so it was tough hunting. Went from the valley floor to 11,000+ trying to locate bucks. There are 160+ bucks there but they seem to have a crab claw front gene in there from what I saw. Ill look up my old maps and send you a DM
