For those that have taken Colorado?s survey on the next 5 year season structure, what's your take?

It sounds like there are a lot of folks wanting longer breaks between seasons. I'm not opposed to this, but do question and don't like the idea of 3rd seasons going to 5 days instead of 9 days. This goes for OTC elk tags as well. I could see how lots of guys would not be willing to purchase some of these tags with only having 5 days to hunt. I think 5 days is to short of a hunt for the amount of money and travel it takes to hunt as a NR.

Anyways, just wanted to see what others were thinking.

I agree I hope the 3rd rifle season will stay nine days like it is now. I would like to see archery split there seasons. Meaning an early one in the first part of September, then shut it down and have Muzzleloader season then have a late archery at the end of September. Maybe a few less hunters in the field if they had to choose early / late instead of having the entire month. Kind of like New Mexico does it.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-19-19 AT 04:38PM (MST)[p]I wish they had a proposal for caps. Caps on everything OTC, but that would hurt the budget I guess.

Im a fan of a split archery season... early or late but not both...
Keep muzzy where its at and eliminate 1st rifle to be replaced with the 2nd archery season.... elk are still bugling then, so archery is not robbed of it and eliminates the ability to rifle hunt the late bugling season...

LAST EDITED ON Jun-20-19 AT 08:49AM (MST)[p]Well if we're gonna offer up biased suggestions, leave the rifle seasons as they are, archery the first 2 weeks of September, and muzzleloader the third week, giving the elk 2-3 weeks to breed as first rifle starts the second Saturday of October as it does now. I dont think a split archery season will alleviate pressure as guys will deer hunt the first 2 weeks and elk hunt the second 2 weeks.

Doubt they are going to do that. They are trying to increase the bear harvest. They just lowered NR tags to $100 to help accomplish that.
