Heading out for a few days of scouting, Bringing my horse trailer with living quarters. Need a few ideas where to set up. Preferably just National Forrest.

Thanks

Might want to check snow pack and road openings depending on where you are heading......

I understand that there are still some roads closed. I need to start somewhere so I will lay eyes on it this weekend. I have a few places that have been suggested and checked the archives (sure do miss Rocketman). So I am just looking for a base camp to get started.

Hey RR, interesting handle. Wouldnt have anything to do with reining horses would it?

It is, He is a Registered Paint. I just use him now for some roping and trail riding. He has sired some winning reiners. He was a Stallion for 8 years.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-02-19 AT 02:23PM (MST)[p]So do you know Richard and Rose or are you somehow related to them? I shot trap for years with Richard and had the good fortune to stay at their home and even go on a horseback hunting trip with him in the Sangrias.

Never met them in person. But they produced some great horses. He
is a handful at times, but there is no quit in him.
Bluehair, if you don't mind me asking, where do you call home?

I live north of Cortez and about 10 miles from the Utah line. The last time I hunted with Richard was early 2000's and he was in his 70's then. He and Rose had something like 400 horses between Del Norte and Calif at that time.

At that time RR Star had just won pretty much everything for the last few years. That horse was pulling down big bucks standing at stud. Richard was in a good mood those days. :). He could tell movie wrangling stories all night long.....

Hot rod horse you got there...;-)
