Thinking about heading over there this weekend do you think the snow is too prevalent?

Clearing up fast over that way....was just on the Mesa no problems there...probably depends on exactly where you are heading and what elevation and if there are north slopes that haven't melted....

Going to be tricky if you plan on getting over 10,500 to 11k. Snowmass peak, Capitol, Mount Daily and others are still pretty white

Just wondering. Does a heavy snow and late melt have anything to do with where the deer are in September? Maybe the feed is good enough lower that they don't go all the way to their normal haunts? Maybe they follow the melt up?

They will chase the snow line. They will be above treeline as soon as they can get there until they shed their velvet and become timber dwellers.

I've been seeing bucks above treeline the past couple weeks. One thing to keep in mind is that this year in Colo the national forest still has quite a few gates closed to motor vehicle access. I've had to hike further at several locations to get into the higher elevations.
