Has anyone used Big Chino Guides? They offer a scouting package for $1000. it gives you maps, hunt areas, trail cam pics, and patterns. I was just wondering if anyone has used it and what they think?

I never used this guy but I did use a very well known guide for a unit 10 early rifle bull scouting service. For $500 I got a half page, handwritten note. Be sure you know what your paying for up front and what you can expect to receive.

Are you saying you got ripped off? A handwritten note doesn't sound like a very good scouting report.

I know bigchino is a pretty legit outfitter. Their reviews are good. From what I have read advertised on GoHunt, you get a pretty in depth report. I have contacted JP through email and he responded quickly. He said to give him a call to discuss options. I'm just deciding when and where I want to hunt and if I want to spend the 1K before I call him. I don't want to waste his time unless i'm a 100% willing.

Not necessarily ripped off but I don't think I received much value for my $500.

For what it is worth, I have always heard good things about the big chino guys. Most are a bunch of prescott firefighters.

>Big Chino was cited for shooting
>an antelope from a truck
>with a rifle during archery
>season this year.

Ouch....thats gotta smart

If that's true that's gonna cost some bucks and no hunting.

I've never used Big Chino?s scouting package but have used a couple others. My limited experience has been good.

I used Duwane Adams, who charged me $250 for a 12AE scouting package in about 2006. I got a photocopy of a topo map with some notes and a few areas circled with ?camp here? and ?hunt here?. I felt like I'd been ripped off at first, BUT, his information was spot on. Good camping locations where he said and plenty of deer where he said. My son killed a 188? buck in the main region he said to hunt. Talking with the game warden after the season, it turned out to be the 3rd largest buck taken on the 12AE late hunt that year.

About 6 years ago, I hired A3 for a scouting package for a 5BN early muzzleloader elk hunt my son got drawn for. It was $1,500, so I expected a lot more. They gave me periodic updates in the weeks leading up to the season, as well as photos of some of the bulls they'd found. I then arrived 1 1/2 days before the hunt and we went over their notes, then took me out with them the morning before the season opened. We saw 60-70 elk, with 4 really nice bulls. My son ended up killing the smallest of those 4 bulls on the 2nd day of the season, after he passed it up at 35 yards on opening day. That ?smallest? bull was a 6x7 that grossed 361. Great bull for 5BN.

Two scouting packages from 2 different outfitters, 2 great results. Both times, I feel like I got what I paid for.

Not true on the alleged above, there was a citation but not for what was stated above. Won?t go into details but they did no wrong in my opinion.

Not sure where your from, but personally I'd rather take that $1,000 and put it towards my own scouting...but the pursuit is part of what it's all about to me!
I drew a Bookcliff tag up in Utah about 8 years ago and had never set foot in that country, but took the week ahead of the hunt and just gridded country! Killed a 28" wide buck I was super happy with, but when I look back I think the funnest part of that hunt was learning new county and seeing what I could turn up!

Funny for NOT being what happened Michael Vicente just plead guilty to those charges. Unlawful transport of wildlife and taking wildlife from a motor vehicle. Call me crazy but if I'm not guilty I'll be damned if I'd plead guilty.

It's public information about that situation. If you're interested in what happened, just look it up and then you can make up your mind if it was legitimate or not!
