Deer points Question with poll

I was listening to the huntin fool podcast this morning while on the stairclimber. It was about Arizona deer. They look at everything through a non-residents eyes. Their take was if you have 10-15 points for deer you should hunt now. There are no hunts you can draw with 5 more points over the next 5 years that are better and worth waiting for. My situation is little unique. I am a non-resident with 11 points and will become a resident in 4 or 5 years. Which of these options would you do?

A: Wait until I become a resident and enter the draw with 15 points. Unlimited scouting and hunting time

B: Apply next year and go on a hunt that takes 11 points, hunt and scout in a 2 week window. Enter retirement with 4-5 points

C: None of the above

For more information to help make this choice....

I would like to go on a rifle hunt with these points. After that I may just archery hunt. When I live down there I will do over the counter archery every year while I build more points. I am not looking for a 200 inch buck. I enjoy a hunt where you see deer everyday and with patience and hard work you can find a respectable 4 point. Lower hunter numbers trumps trophy quality.

A, B, or C and why? Thanks for your Opinions

Something else I should have added. If I wait to draw I will still be hunting, not sitting home on the couch. I have points to burn in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada and Oregon.

Arizona has priority over all states.

Definitely A. With 15 resident points you could draw a Strip archery tag. You will see deer every day and have a legitimate chance to kill a real trophy. Spend a week scouting and hunt all 21 days. The downside to option A, you will never want to hunt an OTC unit.

Its the climb that makes you a different person". - Yvon Chouinard

Without questions ?A?. Keep applying for the strip and hope to get lucky as a NR. Draw the archery tag in less than 5 after becoming a resident. If burning points on an archery tag is not an option (you're crazy if it's not) than ya need to apply for a decent tag now. But again, option A should be your only one. Become a resident, draw a strip archery and settle for nothing less than giant.

Happy Hunting

I could agree with what Bob Dykman says.
And when you do draw give him a call. He knows the Strip as well as anybody.

I just retired last Aug, Not to be a smart a$$
You should enter retirement now with or without the 4-5 points life is to short
When you are retired it won't matter you will have all the time you need to do everything

I like the retire now idea. We want to build our house down there before we quit work and really dont want to pay the early withdrawal penalties on our 401k so we need to stay "nose to the grindstone" for a few more years

A.

You should be able to draw a late Kaibab tag after you become a resident.

If Hunting and Angling Ended
There is no alternative funding system
in place to replace the potential lost
funds for conservation. If hunting and
angling end, funding for wildlife
conservation, including enforcement of
all wildlife laws, will be jeopardized.
Hunters, anglers and shooters actively
support wildlife conservation through
tangible actions such as buying licenses
and paying taxes on hunting, fishing and
shooting equipment. Why are hunters and
anglers so willing to support
conservation through their pocketbooks?
Because people place added value on ?
and are willing to pay for ? what they
can use.
