Boot question

So it's time for me to buy some new boots to break in for the fall. Right now I am likely just doing an archery elk hunt. I currently have a pair of Cabelas Meindl Denali?s which have been great but they are on their last leg. I'm torn on buying another boot of similar height like the Zamberlan 960 or whether to buy a taller one like the 980 or kenetrek Mtn extreme? Thoughts?

I've owned the Danali boot. Bought a pair of Lowa Tibet GTX last year and I like them a lot better. The boot really didn't have to be broke in they were great right out of the box. I bought the regular boot but they do make a high boot in the Lowa Tibet...Great boots. If you are a LEO, military, firefighter or corrections officer I know of a site where you can get about &100 off

Big 5 has some for $19.99 lol
What you need fancy mountain boots out east. Ha ha plus there ain't no elk out there. Lol

Boots are so subjective...

As long as it's from a reputable brand (I prefer made in USA or Europe but that's personal preference) I'd go based on what fits.

As much as I hate to say this, don't rule out REI either as you can wear them for 2 months, decide they don't fit, and return them for a full refund/exchange.

Everybody's feet are different but I would take a look at the Crispi boots. I've had several different brands of boots including Danner, Lowa, Meindl, Kenetrek, Crispi and a few others. I've been lucky and had pretty good luck with all of them but the Crispis are definitely the most comfortable for me.

I wore the Lowa Renegades for the last year and a half ? they were a super comfortable boot right out of the box but then after about a year the right toe area started peeling away from the leather and the sole started falling apart a few months later. They are comfortable and light but for $225 I feel like I should gets at least 2 seasons out of them before they fall apart. I probably should have waxed them more and maybe they would have lasted longer.

This year I burned some Cabelas points on the Kenetrek Mountain Extremes. I started breaking them in this weekend turkey hunting . They are expensive and a little heavier but I like the stiffness and support for steep sidehilling. I'm going to try and wax the crap out of my boots this time to keep them supple and last a long time. I don't know of anyone that has personally done it but their website says they will repair and resole your boots for $175, so you could possibly get a long lifespan out of one pair of boots without having to fork over the $450 for a new set.... that is my hope but only time will tell I guess

Just because I live in NC now doesn't mean I won't still be hunting out west every yr!

LAST EDITED ON Apr-23-19 AT 02:01PM (MST)[p]I was like u a few months ago, so I bought the Crispi Dakota GTX, very nice boot easy to walk on true to size zero break in time. I also bought a pair of Lowa hunter extreme ?10 high 200 gram of thin insulate extremely comfortable easy to break in.
My to go boot will be the Crispi I live and hunt in NM so I guess I'll be partying away with my Lowas.
Crispi boot can't go wrong

Out of all the brands I've tried, Crispi is the one I like.

Planning on getting a pair of the Colorado's once they become available.

Danner Prong Horn Insulated or non, Rocky Boots very good I can't remember the model name though.

Currently have Crispi Thor and love them. They are great around town and in the hills after 100?s of miles still feel new!
