Red Desert Antelope

Just returned from a week in Craig Colorado. The numbers of antelope and especially bucks, from Baggs up to Wamsutter and over to RD was amazing. The country is greener than I have ever seen, and horn growth is good this year. Good luck to everyone hunting this area.

Blank - I hunted 53 last year. It was a fantastic hunt. I'm happy to hear the goats and country look good.

I noticed a lot more in 57 than I have seen in years. Good to see. Especially up north by wamsutter. The moisture there has been amazing this year.

Super good to hear that news ! I'm hoping to get a tag in one of those nearby areas, not a smoker unit, just decent I believe-- area 52-1, west of Saratoga. Did not have enough points to try for better units like 57 or 53. Missed on every draw in Colorado so any luck now will be great luck !

Was back down to Craig for 3 more days. the town deer are growing their antlers nicely, and keeping lawns and gardens well trimmed. The antelope from Baggs down to Craig are everywhere, and saw lots of brand new fawns just starting to hit the ground.

No luck drawing your antelope tag? Saw it took 11 points and not 100% at that. Probably for the best, grab a leftover and hunt low stress.

Hunted 57 last year lots of goats , but it was pretty dry .

I hunted 53 last year, good hunt. Looked over 170 something bucks in two days to find something with a little mass.

Did not draw Co 142 . Found out it was shot out last 2 years. Too many permits.
Wy draw still to come on 20 th. May get lucky on 52-1 with 6.5 points average for 2 hunters on my app.. But one never knows how that business goes until the draw is done. If no permits, wait till next year like usual. Or hope to get lucky ? on leftovers in Co or Wy. 53 Wy antelope has really taken off ? need a lot of points to hit that one.

Chuck and shedneck... how big of goats did you guys end up with? I drew the tag this year. Just curious what you killed. We have seen some big goats when deer hunting in that area
