October Fishing near Alcova

My Dad and I only drew deer tags this year...no antelope. We will have some extra time on our hands and I thought it would be fun to go fishing one day. Is it worth it to rent an aluminum boat at Alcova Res and try to catch some trout? Thoughts or suggestions? I thought about calling the Crazy Rainbow to see what they offered. Kidding...my Dad and I always make fun of that name. Thanks in advance...

LAST EDITED ON Jun-26-19 AT 07:32AM (MST)[p]I was fixing to put almost an exact post like this up. We only drew buck antelope tags in 47 this year and were looking for something else to do. Is the "miracle mile" accessible from the bank? What kind of setups would work? Lures?
None of us fly fish so we would have spinning equipment.

Steve, Alcova had decent fishing but I prefer Pathfinder. From where you guys stay it's not much further going through the canyon, however there are no boat rentals there but it's not needed. Tossing a line in from the shore will produce as many trout as you want to catch with the occasional walleye in between.

jm- Just poking fun at the name...I may call them and see what is going on with the fishing. We thought the name was different way back when and one year when we were driving up to Casper saw the "Crazy Rainbow" and just thought it was a bit eccentric is all.

Bryon- I appreciate the info...I will text or call you as time gets closer to October to touch base with you. Bummed that neither my Dad or I drew our antelope tags. I really need more breakfast sausage. :( Was going to turn the whole doe into deliciousness. LOL. I hope things are good with you. Healthy?
