Well, my Dad finally got his late hunt in unit 119 in Wyoming this year. At 73 he is ready for a fun hunt.
I was just hoping to get some input on this hunt. I am pretty sure we can find out where to hunt just fine. From what I have heard so far a 150" to 160 " buck is a shooter for this unit? Lots of bucks but few really big ones.
That's just fine, a buck in that range would be his best buck.
Do you guy's agree that a 150" to 160" is a shooter for this unit?
If any one will share some pictures of bucks taken in this unit I would love to get Dad excited for the hunt.
Thanks for any input.
I also posted this in the deer forum.

This one was taken in 119 on the early hunt.

That is a great buck, Is it from last year?
He would be very happy with one like that. Thanks

I would make sure you have the permission slips for the ranch that allows hunters on..I can't remember the name but on wy website you can find it. There are 180" but you have to get lucky. Some years guys see 100 deer a day, weather is a big factor.

Maybe 3 years ago, the first year they had the early Hunt there.
Yes get the Absorakao ( spelling ) permission slip.
It has been a few years since they cut the late tags so hopefully some bucks are making it through.
With that said if most guys hold out for a true 180? Buck your going home empty handed.

The applications for the permission slips for Absaroka front HMA opened today and I got it done.
By no means are we waiting for a 180" but it would be nice to get lucky. We are just going to look at lots of deer and have a good time.
I was able to hunt 128 late a couple years ago and Dad was with me, we looked at about 150 different bucks in the 5 days we hunted.
It was great time. I am hoping for the same weather I had, cold and snowy.

Awesome you get a fun hunt with your dad. As far as to a shooter, my advice is whatever gets your dad excited enough to shoot. It's his hunt and his expectations. Keep it fun for him and don't put pressure on him:)

Yes, I will keep you posted on how things turn out.
He had 11 to draw in the Special draw. Regular was close but I had to pass on Colorado This year for this hunt so I wanted to be sure he drew so we went in the special draw.
My wife has max now and we are waiting to see how this one goes and see if that is where she wants to hunt? Right now we are waiting for 128 late Where I drew.
I hope he gets his biggest buck?? Pretty sure he will, He has been a meat hunter his whole life so it should be fun. We have a room in Meeteese all week.
And then soon as we get back it is off to my late Manti elk hunt in Utah!! It is going to be fun.
OH YA!

Here is an update of the hunt.
Weather was pretty cold, some snow. We were there 4 days and saw about 30 bucks in the unit and a bunch more in the fields just out of the unit. Close to 80 bucks in all. Nothing really big. He shot his buck early in the hunt so for the most part we were just looking around. We only saw 5 bucks that were pretty good. His was the second biggest we found. We had a great time.
His buck is 25 1/2" wide. Thanks for the help.
I will try to add the pictures of the other nice bucks we saw.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-14-19 AT 10:48PM (MST)[p]Congrats that's a very respectable Buck for that area.

Pretty good. I followed in Dad's foot steps and shot early.
I moved locations from where I scouted and went on the advice of someone that knew the area better that I did . It worked out great.
Where we there for a week in total and didn't see a bigger one even after I shot this one. Again it was a blast. We worked our butt's off getting it out. It took two days to get it out.
Lots of broken bulls.
There was no moving this bull on the steep slope for good pictures. Dang it!!
