Unit 26 Moose

I drew a unit 26 moose tag this year which includes most of region G for deer hunting. I'm focusing on the Greys as that is about the only area I know somewhat in this unit. I have 4-5 days of scouting and 3 weeks of hunting planned. If anyone knows of, or sees a big bull I'd appreciate the help. I'm being pretty picky since I have a lot of time. Any help is appreciated!

The last week of the season is best for some of the really big bulls, but its hard to wait that long.

Yeah that is an extremely long wait. I'm not shooting a small bull until the last weekend. I'm hoping for something in the 150" range but score definitely isn't what I'm basing it on. Just a general size. My friend saw a 170" bull and a 140" young bull last year which is why I switched my areas. Haven't seen a bull like that in a lot of years where I normally hunt.

Well....I don't know why you'd focus on the Greys as that is out of Area 26 and in Area 23. So, you got all the area south of Labarge Creek, all of Fontenelle creek, and the Hams and Smiths Fork drainages. The wife and I saw 5 bull moose on private just a mile from the forest boundary on Labarge Creek this past weekend. They were all in that 32-39" range. Start finding the cows. Look at those burn areas throughout that area as that'll hold good feed which they seem to congregate to and the aspen/brush areas near creek bottoms.

Don't overlook the BLM areas, they wander a fair ways in the rut.
We've taken 2 bulls out of 26, neither large but saw some big ones.

Ah I made a mistake. It is unit 23. 26 is where I typically hunt for deer/elk and have been putting in for moose there for over a decade. Opted to make the switch to try unit 23 this year. So the greys river area is mine and most of region G for deer.
