Scope mounting trouble

I put this on the Idaho thread in hopes some old friends are still on here or anyone that has knowledge and may be able to help.
I have a weatherby vanguard with a vortex viper 6-24-50 . I have been to a few shops and been through 3 sets of rings and bases and still have not gotten what I need / want out of this scope. Does anyone have the parts info that I would need to get a 20 moa base, and not have my cheek be floating due to high rings or the front of the scope hitting the barrel? I currently have Leupold standard bases and med rings, cheek height is good and it doesn't touch the barrel, but I am only getting one rotation out of my turret, which seems like a waste of expensive turret rotation .
Any help would be great thanks !!

Do your currently have a one piece base on the rifle? If you do, I wouldn't be surprised if it is a 20 MOA base that is put on backwards. Flip it around and your problem would be solved.
If you need a 20 MOA base, they are easy to buy online. With a 50mm scope your face is going to be floating off most standard stocks. I've added cheek rests on a couple of my gun stocks to solve this common problem. Some tactical stocks have adjustable cheek rests just for the problem big scopes have created with standard stocks.

All the bases I have tried have been 2 piece , It sounds like I should try the same rings I have with a 20 moa rail? Or will I need to get higher rings and a cheek rest?

Weatherby vanguard can use most rem 700 bases/rings also. If you want the lowest option Hawkins Precision makes some awesome ring/base combo also. They should work as well. They are 25MOA. Give them a call.
Talley lightweights would be my second choice.

FYI anyone buying this set up, they say that the action is a Howa but the rem 700 20 moa rail will fit . This is false info, the rail for the short or long action doesn't match up .

I've built 3 Remington 700, 7mm-08, for my girls and wife. I have the same scopes vortex vipers and running night force 20 moa single bases and night force titanium low rings. You will get all the travel you will ever need. That's from Idaho!
