Went out on the opener of spring Turkey and it was windy and slow, no real action or gobbling to speak of. Today was another story, birds gobbling on and off the roost, lots of activity, around 0730 while I was calling to some distant strutters out steps a lone coyote , after a little lipsqueeks this female came in on a string to about 18 Yrds..one well placed arrow and she was done..First time I've ever killed a yote with a bow, 30 some minutes later here comes a nice 8 inch Tom to push around my decoys and strut his stuff. This was the maiden voyage for my new Mathews Vertix and it doubled up. The tom was 14 yrds and was one and done once the trokar tipped Easton entered his chest.. Now that's how ya break in a new Bow by doubling up on a beautiful spring day..doesn't get much better IMO..
