NEW CA B ZONE HUNT

Whats going on hunting family.
Been hunting D3-5 for the past 2 years with no success. Seen a bunch of does and fawns, but no bucks! Finally decided to try elsewhere. Was successful with a CA B ZONE tag and looking to tag my first buck. Like most CA hunts, its not going to come easy, so im willing to put in the work.. I just could use some advise or pointers from you seasoned hunters that can point me on the right direction. Im not looking for a hand out, as a specific spot is precious.. just looking for some general tips on where to start, what parts to avoid, with all the pot growers out there..
Just looking for a safe and memorable time with the boy.

Also, do most of you B hunter find greater success early in the season, or later? would love to hear your thoughts.

I would search the blacktail section for more info, no real secret to B zone except it takes a lot of work to learn and become successful. Plenty of ground and plenty of spots to get away not all have many deer so have to hit it hard to find them. Best bet is find them early and try and kill them early but if that doesn't work out if storms come(and they don't always) drop elevation and try and get lucky

Hunt the higher ridges above about 4000' and you won't run into illegal grows. Well, not many. It takes a lot of water so they will be where the water is.

I would start with hunting an area that is closer to where you live, and you can get to often. I'd either scout or archery hunt early, and try to find a honey hole.
Opening weekend of rifle season will be a zoo, so getting off the road will probably be your best bet. Then, if you can get to your area when the first storms hit, it can be very good up there.
Depending on where you live, I may be able to give you some general areas that I like to hunt.
