This year will be somewhere around the 30th year that our group will assemble for the A zone rifle opener. One young man will drive 6 hours to join up with us.

Friday night will be the infamous $10 bocce ball game. This usually takes over an hour and a few beverages to complete. Possibly the highlight of the weekend for me.

We'll cook, we'll laugh, we'll plan our deer drives and hopefully get some shooting. We'll all be armed with our California mandated lead free ammo ;>) so as not to be in violation of Governor Newsomes wishes.

We'll share our plans for out-of-state hunts and just enjoy being with friends and family. Hope to post pics by Sunday night!

Sounds like a great time. I'll be out with my buddies for our annual A zone opener. Weather is supposed to be a lot cooler than normal which probably means only 90s. Will have the traditional Carne Asada for dinner and some ice cold beverages I'm sure!
Good luck!

Great buck CHWino,

I'll start the A opener tomorrow, when my daughters don't have more important things to do, like hang out with friends or get their nails done!!
I hope your hunt continues to be successful

Got this fat forkie second weekend of the season. Only 4 of us were able to participate this week. Had a ball buster of a pack through waist/chest high chemise brush. Thank God for good friends. Dressed at 125 lbs, lots of gut fat.

A very nice A zone black-tail. I have one that looks just like that munching in my yard. I see him a couple times a week. Here in the B zone, he's still in velvet.
