LAST EDITED ON Oct-29-11 AT 06:17PM (MST)[p]Me and a friend, Robert, took this young lady, Haley, out to get her first buck in area 6. She had missed a 3-point earlier in the day and was kinda bummed out but put down this nice 4-point about 20 minutes after missing the 3-point. If you count eye guards and stickers he'd be a 6 x 7.

"Next time push that tongue in"....seriously? ALWAYS a buzz killer in the bunch eh...

The young lady should be sticking her tongue out as well!!!

This young lady is my daughter and I want to give a HUGE thanks to Drew, Robert, and Mitch for all their help in making this happen for her!

I broke my ankle in July and have had a hard time healing up, so without all the wonderful friends and support this may have never happened.

I have not seen it, but I have heard that there is a great picture with her sticking her tongue out with this deer and a little face paint to go along with it.

You guys made dreams come true for my daughter and it will be awhile before she climbs off cloud nine.

Jeremy..really????

As neat as this photo is, try showing it to folks who are "on the fence" about hunting and see their reaction, and remember they are ones who are going to determine if this little gal gets to hunt more in the future. We are not talking about hunters, they get it, but we as sportsmen have a responsibility to others.

We as responsible sportsmen have to always make sure that we portray the thing we love--hunting-- with the highest regard for what we hunt.

I know it was an oversight, these guys did great helping her out, but taking just one second to push that tongue back in would have made a perfect photo and only a fervent anti could have attacked the picture.

That being said, don't worry about it, I don't want to start a pi$$ing match on such a neat thing as this young ladies hunt.

I forgot to mention that our friend Mitch had also taken her out several times prior to this day. Also, Halee was using Mitch's gun because Halee's gun had suffered a fall in the middle of the hunting season. Thanks Mitch for helping Halee out during her hunting season.
Sorry about the tongue as it truley was an oversight. The last harvested animal I took pictures of was in 2007 and I totally forgot all of the etiguette involved in taking polite pictures. I actually have better pictures of Halee with her buck but decided not to use them because of face paint from the blood of the buck and because the bucks toungue had leaves all over it. And yes, I also have a picture of Halee sticking her tongue out like the buck. I know what Don is saying about the tongue pictures and I know that he has the best intentions in mind and he has my respect. We as hunters know that we mean no disrespect to the deer or any other people when we take bloody pictures but some people, such as antihunters, are offended by the gruesome pictures. On one hand I have the attitide of who cares what they think. I did not break a law and this is nothing I should have to hide. But as Don said, one day it will not be us hunters who make the decisions about the future of hunting but instead politicians who may or may not hunt will be making those decisions. Thanks for the heads up Don.
Again, Halee, great buck! fatrooster.
