Does anybody know the exact forms
Needed to bring 1 rifle into BC from the US and go to Smithers flying thru
Vancouver?
I'm not sure which Forms I need.

I'm going in October, so researching the same... I'm not sure if we need the possession and acquisition license but I think that's just to buy a gun? I'm sure I'll know more in a month or two...

So I know you need a
Non resident Fire Arm Declaration.
Royal Canadian mounted Police
And a
Department of Homeland Security
Document.
The best place is a airport.
Take your rifle,cameras,spotting scope
Etc. They write the serial numbers down
And they are declared.So nobody
Charges you with import taxes.
The airport certification is used in many countries as your gun permit.
For sure we need those 2 documents.

Form 5589

You can just google it and find a link on RCMP's website.

If you are flying through Vancouver (anywhere outside the US actually), make sure you get a Certificate of Registration for Personal Effects Taken Abroad form filled out with your gun's info. You can get this done at a US Customs location (most airports have such a place). The one time I forgot to do it was the one time the US Customs people asked to see it. You guessed it...in Vancouver. They pulled my gun off the plan to check serial numbers against the RCMP's Form 5589. I was within a minute or two of missing my flight because of it.

Have fun.....I'll be in northern BC this fall chasing moose.

When flying into Vancouver from the
US can you have your ammunition in You gun case? Or does it have to be in your checked luggage?

You need to check with your airline. I'm pretty sure Air Canada doesn't allow ammo in the gun case.

If you have a connecting flight in Vancouver allow yourself plenty of time to go through customs and immigration.

I flew there in 2012 and a bunch of planes from China had landed right before I got there. There was me and 2,000 Chinese in that line.

I had allowed about 6 hours but I was about two hours late leaving Chicago due to weather but still thought I had plenty of time but I didn't. Missed my connecting flight.

If I remember correctly I had the ammo in the gun case flying into Vancouver without an issue. But after I collected my luggage to go through customs and immigration and went to check in for my next flight they made me take it out.

I also got my gun permit in the Vancouver airport. I don't if you can get them ahead of time now or not.
