Finally got my mount back a few weeks ago. Very happy with how it turned out. Worth the year wait.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-04-18 AT 12:28PM (MST)[p]Ended up getting it measured yesterday.

Made the books with a 68. Since it was already mounted he said I lost a good 2 inches because he could not measure all the way down on the horn.

Pretty stoked it made Pope & Young

Why would he not be able to measure down to the base of the horn? The hair goes right up the side of the horn sheath, all he needs to do is move the hair to the side find the base of the horn and measure.

He was super worried he would damage the mount. I am fine with how he measure it. Hindsight I would have measured the weekend i shot it but was told but a few folks that it wouldn't make it.

I'm confused how someone would think they will ruin a mount by measuring the horn. There is no possible way to miss on 2 inches. He removed the horns off the core how hard is it to measure the length of the horn when it's removed. It's even possible to get a very accurate measurement even after it be mounted.

The same guy that did the work was not the same guy who measured. My taxidermist does not measure for pope and young or score horns in general. The Gentlemen who measured it said in the past on some mounts if you try to push some of the hair down it could damage the mount. The hair was right up to the horns.

Again, it made the books and I am very happy
