LAST EDITED ON Oct-03-07 AT 11:50PM (MST)[p]Here's a photo of my buddy Dave's arrow exiting his elk after the shot. The arrow passes right through the elk so this is actually a trail cam picture of the arrow in flight. The camera was setup to take pictures every 2 minutes. He didn't know he had this photo until some one else checked the camera several days later. What are the chances???

THE ONLY bobcat THAT KNOWS ALOT OF YOU HAVE HAD THIS IMAGE IN YOUR PEA BRAIN BUT DUE TO POOR SHOOTING TACTICS I'M STILL KICKIN!!!

Truly amazing! Where was he in regards to angle at the shot. Looks as thought he should be laying on the ground to have the arrow exit at that angle, but I'd suspect the arrow took a pretty good jog when punching through ribs to exit the way it is.

Awesome! It looks to me like he has just reacted to the shot, note the dust from him starting to run. That would help explain the strange angle on the arrow.

That is simply amazing. How about some pictures of the bull. I'm sure he didn't go far.

I'd rather be huntin!!!!

Great photo! You guys should play the lottery.
What kind of "bait" was in the tub behind the bull? LOL. Just kidding.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-04-07 AT 02:28PM (MST)[p]Whoops...
Before I read the story or really looked close, I noticed the dust and thought the "one in a million photo" was a big fart that bull had ripped off... Then I seen the arrow...My Bad!!!
Made me chuckle though!!!
That is a cool photo!!!
Priceless!

Still laughing at that one!
a*r

cool picture. My buddy has one that is kind the same but it shows him full draw on a doe that he shoots. He is faw away and you see the doe below him and another doe near the camera triggered it to take a picture at just that perfect time!

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to call B.S. on the part about the arrow being caught "in flight". Trail camera shutter speeds are not that fast.

Look how blurry his head and legs are from the movement. Do you really think an arrow going 300+ FPS is going to be crystal clear?

Don't get me wrong, I still think it is a cool picture, but I'd bet money that the arrow was just sticking out (partial pass through)at the time this photo was taken. It may have fallen out after, leading them to think it was a complete pass through.

Maybe more like a 1 in a 100,000 shot.

I am with you ohiohntr, this is a fake. Cant believe all of you guys are saying "wow, cool picture dude, totally awesome"

who here really actually thinks this is a real picture? holy shiznetts

Agreed, I was hoping someone else would ask so I wouldn't have to but what was in that tub? I'm not saying it was anything illegal because I have no idea what was in it or the laws where it was taken but it does look a little odd. I run cattle and that doesn't look like a water trough, a place you'ld put one or that it's seen any use. again I'm not pionting any fingers this may be perfectly legit but you have to admit it looks a little off.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-06-07 AT 09:22AM (MST)[p]Huntergeorge,

I am not saying the photo is necessarily a fake, but it did not happen as described in the story.

The angle of exit also is another "proof" that it is not as described.

Here is what I think happened. The guy probably shot the animal peacefully feeding out of the trough, and the arrow passed about 3/4 of the way through, the bull turned and started to run past the camera, kicking up the dust and creating movement and "click", there's your photo. (If you look closely, you notice there is dust in the air, all the way back to the trough.)The bull's muscle movement would also have caused the angulation of the arrow to change.

I think the way it was described sounds better and would probably make a good marketing ploy, but......

1 in 10?

Cpugsie,

Congrats on the unique photo. Obviously others can't just enjoy a rare photo on a great bull that was shot and captured on your treecamera. Thanks for posting.

Don't get too concerned with the nay-sayres accusations. There will always be those that will dish on anything you post.

Funny how fast the post go from "congrats" to "let's hang this dude."

(Your posting pretty much a classic showcase of how rumors and BS get started.)

Midnight, If you look back through my post, you'll see how I think this is still a cool picture. I just don't think from looking at it that it happened as described.

If you can explain how the bulls head and legs are completely blurred from slight movement, but the speeding arrow is completely in focus, let us know.

I have trail cameras myself and I know any tail flick or head bob leaves a blurry image. It wouldn't even come close to catching an arrow.

The odds of catching that photo are still pretty slim, and I do think it's a real photo, but I'm just asking why the photo doesn't match the story.

ohiohntr, I re-read your posts, went back and looked over the pics and re-read again. I can very well see the story matching the pictures and the arrow is not as clear as you say , it also matches the picture. I do understand your words about camera speeds and such but I have to say it looks to me like one of those 1 in a million type deals, the dust in the pic means nothing. If many animals were watering there and it was extrememly dry, then an elk jumping from being arrowed and instant dust uprising is in a picture 5,6,7 feet back , well it does happen that fast. Not trying to engage in an arguement with you , I just think the story and pictures are legit....NM

NM
I'm not trying to be argumentative either, but just suspicious.

You have to admit, the arrow is much clearer than say the rack or the legs, though it would be moving so much faster. Most of the time to stop an arrow in flight like that would require strobe photography or at least a shutter speed much faster than a cuddeback's.

How also do you explain the upward angle of the arrow. I have seen partial pass throughs before and the arrow will flip around and look somewhat like the angle in the photo. Even others found the arrow angle wierd.

Also most pass throughs in my experience are through the animal before it would have a chance to kick up that much dust.

I know from personal experience how often hunters embellish stories to sound better. If the photo did happen as described, I apologize for my doubts, but it seems like some others are suspicious as well.

I'm beginning to wonder if I will ever post anything on here for the fact that no matter what the story or the picture it will get torn apart by anything and everyone. Can't a guy just have a good hunt for Christ's sake.

No blood around the shaft of the arrow yet, Id guess that it was just exiting when the photo was taken. Sweet picture and definately one in a million. Thanks for sharing and Im sorry you caught so much hell from the "suspicious" experts that post here.

Been out hunting with my son so I haven't replied to any comments. First off, thanks for all the comments, even the suspicious ones. The picture is real. How fast the arrow is traveling is any ones guess. I'm certain that the arrow was not traveling at 300 fps when it exited but it was a pass through. At least that's what it looked like to us. I'm sure that an arrow going through an elk possibly hitting some ribs is slowed down substantially. The tub is simply a water tub.

Looks just like the water tanks we use for cows.
I bet it was filled with some special stuff like WATER.

I'm not saying it doesn't have water in it but if you think that's been used by cattle you don't have very many. I've never seen a tub like that used for a range tank but that doesn't mean somebody wouldn't. he says it was for water so good enough.

SO I WILL ASK THE MOST OBVIOUS QUESTION OF ALL, WHERE THE HE@L IS THE PICTURE OF YOUR BUDDIES BULL DEAD?

This should be interesting

Geez.........some of you guys are really feeble. Why can't you just look at something and say , "Cool, thanks for posting"....is everything in your world so fouled up that you can't accept anything as real, honest or just plain lucky?

A couple of years ago a guy took a photo of an elk shedding his rack by shaking his head and it was showing both of his antlers in the air a the same time. SERIOUS lucky photo shot! "Bugle" had no problem featuring the photos in an article, but I bet some of you trashed that guy also.

It has been my experience that people who are always suspicious tend to be suspect themselves.

Hey huntergeorge, I'm not posting any photos just to get your goat you dip $#@%. You're, simply put...A JERK...nothing else. I won't even try to defend myself or my friends photo to the likes of you. Enough said about that. But you on the other hand are a piece of work. If you don't like a post don't look. Guys like you are sometimes amusing at best. You offer nothing constructive and are quick to jump on anything that seems out of the ordinary. A lot of people have stopped posting because of jerks like you. I can deal with it because I know it won't stop any time soon.

Thanks to everyone (else) that has enjoyed the post!!!

hey cpug sweet pic i would also like to see a pic of the bull on the ground it looks like your budy made and awesome shot.

Omg you guys are unreal! ever notice its allways the same guys startin crap on the site. Maybe you should get back to your soaps on tv.

The picture is legit! There isnt any blood around the arrow shaft and if it was a partial pass through there would definately be some blood there within a fraction of a second.

HG i dont mean to call you out but have you ever shot an animal with a bow and seen how bad they bleed when hit like that?

Just Living The Dream

Weather it happend just as described or not, it is still a cool pic. I can guarantee that the arrow is NOT trveling at 300 fps. The last deer I shot with my bow was a complete pass through. The arrow entered, and without hitting bone, just dropped out the other side of the animal maybe a foot from the deers feet. It was a situation where I watched the entire thing clearly and the deer didn't flinch. It's POSSIBLE the arrow is stationary. But it's also POSSIBLE that the arrow is still moving. Who cares!

The state you come from should be next to your name. I bet most 75% of the neg. come from Utah the other 25% from texas

WELL GILAMONSTER IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU KNOW THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE FROM UTAH, I THINK YOU HIT IT ON THE HEAD. SO IF YOU FALL INTO THAT 75 PERCENTILE KEEP ON POSTING THE GARBAGE.

gilamonster8,

I bet a large majority of the people on here are from Utah anyway. I think you can chalk your last comment up as a "negative" comment, or at least a stupid one.

So much knowledge in so little time....You nailed it on the head, there are a select bunch of guys on here who continually hijack, and bash other threads-I'm guessing it's because they have NO positive experiences in their own adventures, and take their frustrations out on others accomplishments,to try and bring them down to their own level. This is one of the worst sites on the net for this behavior too.
There are some top-notch quality hunters, guides, and outdoorsmen on here, but the "tarnish" from these other jerks always takes over.Maybe one day they'll grow up and act like grown men........no,they won't or they would already have done it.It's sad to see such childish "post-bashing".
No Gut's...No Story!!!

Nice shot Dave, amazing the trail cam was right there (AND went off at the right time)!!! Nice of you Carl to post the picture for us to enjoy-well, some of us anyway. Awesome picture for sure. Can I hunt with Dave sometime?
