Well it is that time of the year again.

Our Hunter Ed team will be holding a one-day supplemental class in Kingman, AZ for any NR who has taken Hunter ED in their home state since 1980 and has a card to prove it!

This is a 12-hour class, goes from 7 a.m. until about 7 p.m. and covers a lot of material, including the latest draw stats.

Upon graduation you will get the card, plus you will have earned a permanent bonus point for ALL of AZ's big game species, including elk, deer, sheep, antelope, etc.

If you want to register for the class, you will have to contact Dave Williams at 623-236-7434 and then FAX him a copy of your Hunter Ed card. He will then put you on the class roster. If you're not on the roster, I can't teach you, it's that simple.

Class will be held at the Mohave Sportsman Club's 7 Mile Hill Range. Directions will be sent to you by G&F when you get registered.

I will be arranging for a discount at a local motel (Silver Queen 928-757-4315) for those who will be coming in on Friday evening, or need to to stay over after class. When you register tell them you are taking the Hunter Ed class and you'll get a small discount.

For those coming in from a long ways, get a cheap gambling junket flight to Vegas for Friday, bring the little lady and let her see the sights/sounds of Sin City, while you come down (100 miles) and take the class on Saturday. Then you fly home on Sunday.

For those who are just one point off of the max for any of the big game species, but especially deer, it's the only way you'll ever draw those "PREMIUM" tags!

If you are a bowhunter, there might be some leftover javelina tags available (these are draw tags), so if you have time, plan on hunting them for a few days before or after the class in areas close to Kingman. Archery deer season will also be open, and those tags are over the counter.

If you have any questions, call Mr. Williams or me at 928-681-4867. I can be reached via e-mail at [email protected]

Be patient, I've got more hunts to go on in the next month or so, but I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I'm leaving on the 28th be back in mid-November.

Oh, our next (and final) NR class of 2009 that we'll teach will be in April, but that date has not been set yet.

Good luck!

Yep, try 623-236-7903.

I think that is his FAX number.

Just make sure that you make it his attention and note that you want to sign up for the Kingman class on January 10, 2009.

I have taken this class and Don is a great guy. Well worth doing. With that said DO NOT stay at the Silver Queen. The discount is not much and you can get as good or better rates down the street and at newer and nicer hotels.

Will there be any other classes closer to the nm/arizona border??? NMPAUL you wanna go with me?

When I die I'm leaving this world the same way I came in.......Accidentally!

Don,
Is Vegas the best (closest) place to fly into?

Ok, let me answer a question or two.

Yes, Vegas is the place to fly into. We are just about 100 miles south.

You guys are welcome to stay anywhere you want, but each class I get a lot of e-mails and calls asking for a "reasonable" and "clean" motel for guys to stay in.

The Silver Queen has been remodeled and while I'm not sure what the price is, I know it has been as "reasonable" as any others in town, (from what I'm told) especially on a weekend where some other big events are going on.

I don't know the reason for the 1980 date, guess they had to pick one and that is it. It was not my decision, and since I'm a volunteer in this program, obviously I have no say in how it is
run.

Those that take this class will have the permanent bonus point in place for the '09 elk and antelope draws, so yep it will be a good thing to have.

One thing that is always of interest is that we'll the data on just how many NR and R there are in the big game pools and how many bonus points each has.

We know its a long day and folks really have to make a concerted effort to get here, so we try and do it as quick as we can.

Hope to see you guys in January..

Well I just bought my ticket to Vegas to go to the Kingman course on Jan,10th. If someone is interested in carpooling in a rental to kingman and back let me know, this might save a few bucks.

Thanks, Jeff
