LAST EDITED ON Oct-05-09 AT 11:12PM (MST)[p]i just want to say to everone that is doing hunting this season to drive safe and please wear seat belts. I am a witness that they save lives. i was driving up a canyon in utah not far from my house. it hsa a highway through it. the canyon is logan canyon and i came around a corner and hit a pitch of black ice. my jeep went off the road and flipped onto its top into the logan river in about 2ft of water. i had a buddy in the front seat and one in back.

We just got done elk hunting and was one our way to our friends cabin to help pacl out elk that his mom and sister had shot that morning. we are very lucky to be alive. Cool thing is i had my rifle in my jeep and i shot it today to see if it still worked and it is still on just has water in the scope.

I did lose however two pairs on binos a spotting scope and my leupold rangfinder. plus a 20 pack of mtn dew. i bet the guy in the tow truck has that.

But please everyone please drive safe and wear your seat belts who knows what is waiting around the next corner.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-05-09 AT 11:10PM (MST)[p]Seat belts have saved my arse several times. On this occassion, I was spun out and crossed 5 lanes of traffic only to bounce off the center barrier and go back across the same 5 lanes of traffic again. Luckily, I didn't get T-boned. If you look close, you can see the Stratosphere Tower in the background.

Darn good refresher TI4--
Glad to hear no one seriously injured.
This time of year in Wyo its the secondary highways that can and do become deathtraps for the uninitiated.
On a lighter note, with a Handle like "ThunderImpulse", I sure hope you're a single woman between the ages of 35 and 45 with the same numbers in measurements!!!

Rump (chuckle!)

I did the spin thing with a full trailer of steel last year in UT after hitting some black ice the pucker factor was off the scale. It broke my slide in hitch so the trailer did like 3 turns in the middle of the road before it stopped.

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

Nope i'm a guy. haha sad thing is i am hunting the Utah any bull tag and i dont have a vehicle to get around. and i still dont have a spot. i have idaho deer next week.

Ahh... THAT corner. I'll bet they pull 10 upside down cars out of the river right there every year. I've seen 3 in there in just the last year. I'm lad you're OK.

A big +1 on seat belts. I T-boned a SUV in a small car and went from 65MPH to 0 in 18 inches. I had some bad bruising but was otherwise just fine, despite the fact the engine had attempted to join me in the car.
