I'm in to Long Range Smoke Poles!

Wondering about anybody else?

What'ya shootin?

Don't know if it was Ethical or not?

But I took a Bull Elk this year with My Johnston Smoker at 487 Yards!

I never thought this Gun would be worth the Money!

But Damn!

She's a SWEET shootin Machine!

Kinda like Uncle sages 270WSM,She Hits where She's Aimed!

They are pretty proud of them. Dont get the bolt. I think I may get one if I draw ML again. It appears they would be legal in NM.
 
Elkassasin, you shooting the 275 grain or 300 grain bullet. 115" drop at 500 yards for the 300 grain bullet. Wow!! Better have one helluva good rangefinder reading. Off by 30 yards and it is a clean miss.
I am interested though.

Think it would kill an elk at 500 yards? Should have pretty good energy with 300 grains at least knock the air out of em.

Let em cry. I am good to about 225 with my ML. An extra 200 yards would be huge in ML season down here in NM.

Might be time to sell the 2 Omegas.

Bess, if you want a long range smoke pole. Just take that 50 cal you have, you know the one you tune up ATVs with, and cram that Ma-deuce 50 cal shell plumb full of black powder. You should get 1000 yard shots with it if our snipers can get 2000 yard kill shots when crammed with smokeless powder.

P.S. when taking shots from the pickup cab, be sure to roll the window all the way down. Resting that heavy sucker on the glass and touching one off may crack the driver's side window.
 
Here is a picture of my latest addition: a White M97 Whitetail, unfired! Minus the scope, as I only shoot open sights. Should arrive in the next couple of days! Hope to extend my range out to 200-250 yards with this and a Lyman peep! Now that is long range muzzleload hunting!

I do know a 186 yds shot was rough on me this year.

You get to read some dumb stuff on the internet.

This has been beat to death, but, there are some guys that should not be taking 50 yard shots.

And there are plenty of guys that are completely competent taking 700 yard shots.

The comment saying that long range shots are the MOST unethical thing a hunter can do is one of the stupidest things I have read on here in awhile... (and that includes the political forum)
 
Good grief, anyone look at the prices of those guns? I ain't cheap, but hell I will stick to my $450 gun and walk the additional 250 yards before I shoot.

Why is any of this on a hunting forum? I guess what happens in Bess' hunting camp, doesn't stay in hunting camp.
