Has anyone used this pack? I'm looking to upgrade from my old Wally world backpack and am thinking about this pack. I realize its probably not at the same level as some of the high end packs but looks like it might be a good buy for around $150. This would be used for a day pack hunting from the truck and I have a separate pack frame to haul meat. Any comments would be appreciated as any other packs in the $100-$200 range.

I have the Hornhunter full curl system & my dad has the main beam. These are not second rate packs by any means!!! They are well constructed & made in the USA, these packs are way underrated IMO!!

How does he like the rifle sling on it? I've never used a pack with a built in rifle carrier and think it would be nice to have walking up outta some hellholes in the dark instead of fighting your rifle sliding off your shoulder the whole time. That's one if the main reasons I'm interested in this particular pack

I have both the Mainbeam and the Full Curl. The Mainbeam is a great day pack! The rifle sling attachment works well for a rifle or a bow. I find myself using the Full Curl more, but the Mainbeam is no slouch.

LAST EDITED ON May-04-19 AT 11:47AM (MST)[p]My buddy used the mainbeam xl last year, really liked it. I picked up one from optics planet a while back for $170 in realtree camo. Other camo was higher. I really like the adjustable harness, will be nice for a 6'5" guy to carry a comfy pack for a change.

I have hunted with the fullcurl system for a long while... it has held up to everything never ripping, breaking, stitch coming apart, etc. It is a VERY good pack for the $$ and is beyond versatile. I've loaded it up with a huge bill moose skull/antlers, meat, stack of elk antlers, etc. My only advice is make sure the one you get is the "newer" - within the last few years - that has the torso adjustment as mine does not and can make it hard to hike long periods as it rides a little low on my hips causing bruising and soreness. I'm 6'3, 180lbs. Hope this helps.

I've used a horn hunter main beam for about 12 years and love it. I started with the original design, then upgraded a few years ago to the newer model due to lack of hip adjustments as mentioned in another post. The reasons I went with the main beam is because i can carry a tripod, spotting scope and weapon with it externally while still keeping my lunch, ropes, rain gear etc. inside the pack. I haven't carried quarters with it, but its rigid enough to do so. I've never had any issues with tearing or zippers on either pack. Camo wise, the first one was predator and the new one is Kings camo, which I like a little better.

I love my full curl system and the mainbeam seems to be well built as well. Horn Hunter does a good job at making quality packs that don't break the bank. I did have a buckle break on mine, probably due to wrenching on it a little harder than I needed to, and they sent me a handful of new ones as soon as I talked to them. There packs have plenty of straps. Even with a broken buckle I had plenty of straps to cinch everything down tight.

The pack is ok for the money. My complaint with it is the buckles break way too easy when you have a heavy load! I have had my full curl system for three years and have had to repair the top zipper because it tore at the seam and had to replace every buckle on the outside. Worse part about the pack is the customer service (hope you never have to use them). Won't go into too much detail but was the worse customer service I have experienced. With that said its been a serviceable pack! Josh

I've used the Mainbeam for 12 years.

Very convenient for scope, tri-pod and gun.

The zippers have been solid, no rips or tears.

My only issue is it is kinda heavy empty.

I packed a bull?s cape and horns out 3 miles with it. So that weight probably equates to strength.

For the price I think they're tough to beat...

Great Packs- they are top of the line for sure~ they will warranty anything that breaks- best thing about horn hunter is there's no more high profile wannabes. They let the packs speak for themselves. FullCurl is like 3 or 4 packs in one. It's a system (frame pack) which is amazing then you can add more packs depending on your trip. Hauling out quarters or meat, to an overnight to two day and then a week. I'm a huge fan who uses and have used for 10yrs~ Check em out.

I'm running the full curl system for 3yrs now and its a great pack and very well built. You will be pleased with the main beam for a day pack. Horn hunter makes quality packs!

Been using hh mb since 2007 and still going. I keep a trash compactor plastic bag for carrying meat inside. It's great for packing out game meat and trophy heads and keeping other necessities on hand. All day treks out west I carry this, rifle and monopod/hiking stick combo and hh bino rangefinder case. Can't think of ever needing anything else

Just bought one for my son to try this season, he’s wore it around a bit practicing. Hopefully it works decent loaded here in a couple weeks !
