Ahhh, the agony and joy of results season.

400+ "unsuccessful" emails sent out, those tags instead went to "conservation". Worth it?

Yes, it is absolutely worth it! Those 400+ tags (actually more like 500) are what has made Utah the "Serengeti of the West" and the absolute envy of every other western state.

Sorry for the sarcasm.

Well over 500 conservation and expo tags.

But look on the bright side, they removed some of the LE tags that were in the 200 expo tags in previous years and sent them to auction, and they were generous enough to replace them with cow elk tags.

They are always looking out for the little guy!

I saw on Facebook a guy didn't draw an elk with 24 points.
But hey!.....we auctioned off some tags.

Yes it's worth it.

There is still 400+ people that are getting to hunt. Some with money, some without. The odds difference is so minuscule if you were to add those tags into the tag pool.

So. BESS. How many points you sitting on now? Still think the expo is great? Heard they auctioned off your tag?

Guessing guys are feeling the joy of another year building points so one of the outfitters can have a big payday? Think Doyle or DC or WLH will send you a thank you?

All of my draw results said unsuccessful, BUT my $5 Expo chance for the Mt Dutton Early Rifle Tag said Successful. I don't have the means to purchase an auction tag, so I am great full for the extra luck of the draw option it gave me, and that everyone can only buy 1 chance per hunt choice keeping me equal with the big dollar people out there.

Xzone congrats on getting my dream tag at the expo I'm not mad at you with my rant below.
How in the heck can they justify a Early Dutton rifle tag in the expo drawing when they've steadily reduced the tags to the point that there is no longer a NR bonus tag. Six years ago I was in a group of four guys
Trying to get that tag. Fast forward six years since the introduction of the state wide spike tags there is seven guys in my point group, a guy with more points drew the tag. This year no such thing as a NR early rifle dutton bonus tag with the huge tag reductions and shifts to the other weapons.
After twenty years at my age I'm going to have to abandon my quest for a Dutton LE tag for the unit I love because there is no bonus tag. Next year I will apply for a different unit with bonus tags and I believe a few of the seven in my point group will do the same.
So no its not worth it!

Your rant has not much bearing on expo ?tag?s as much as it does on spike tags...
wipe out your crop before it's mature and what do you have?

Agreed a small unit like Dutton cannot handle unlimited spike tags. I was out there with a cow tag last year during the spike hunt, and Dutton is way over hunted during the spike hunt. More so than the general deer hunt.
