Finally a Lifetime Ban !!!!

>Do you think this will stop
>him? Me neither.

Probable not. So then it,s time for some lock up and throw away the key.:D

This always gets me:

Wildlife officers then initiated a multi-year investigation that resulted in his arrest.

So Some Can Break Laws for Years before the Law does anything?

Kinda like the Bundy's I Guess!

Oh!

And they've took His Hunting Rights away Several times!

UN-F'N-REAL!

Now he just gets to hunt without a license......just like before. What changed? Once a poacher, always a poacher. He will just have to be selective on where he chooses to violate the law to reduce his chances of being seen or caught.

Thieves walk among neighborhoods with people everywhere and rob in plain sight. How is any of these charges and now "lack of privileges" going to change how this person behaves in terrain that you seldom ever see another human being?

Agreed. Recidivism among criminals is crazy high, and no doubt he will offend again. The good thing I see in this is that the consequences are much higher if caught. He stands to spend a substantial time behind bars. That may slow him down initially, but sooner or later, I think he'll be back at it. It's a much smaller world these days, and should he offend again, sooner or later he will be caught.

Future violations could result in 90 days in jail. He was already sentenced to 27 months! Another 90 days won't make a difference!

I agree with the previous posts. He's not going to stop poaching.

So let me Guess?

They've Spent/Wasted a few 100K on this Guy!

Suspended most of the Jail Time!

But BY GAWD they Arrested Him & Turned Him Loose!

That Ought to Teach Him!

I woulda swore that 90 days was '900', thus my post. Haha, gotta be careful, might be old as Bessy before I know it!

But in the meantime, while we are waiting for our DWR heroes to catch and throw the book at him again (and others), we will stand on the sidelines and watch as our opportunities fall to the lawless behavior of a few damned souls. We will continue to get screwed out of our opportunities to legally hunt what we dream about every day until the next hunting season only to find out we have been robbed.

It is a rarity to catch these punks. Why not jack up the punishment on the first offense instead of treating them like a little kid who disobeyed his parents and got 5 minutes in the corner?!

Right on BLood!

I'm waitin for somebody to say:

"""Well if He Needed the Meat I don't see a problem with it!"""

Or "why y'all wanna destroy a mans life over a couple bears and lions?" And "yer all just fightin over who gets to kill the last deer!"

You guys ##### like a bunch of old women! I haven't seen a poaching sentence yet that hasn't had the MM critique and deemed too soft.

At a time when deer go for $300k and sheep for that as well, perhaps this is a bigger crime than stealing cars? Or should be equal.

You guys are funny. Do you honestly think anyone does hard time for stealing cars? I'll give you a hint. No. And that's IF you get a conviction which you seldom do unless they admit the crime. It's all part of the cost of living in a society with a presumption of innocence and the burden of proof on the prosecution. That said I'll take it any day over China. Get all the preconceived notions out of your heads from watching too much tv. The jails are packed and it's a daily decision of which violent offenders to release to make room for the next.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-24-19 AT 08:20AM (MST)[p]Pretty sure they got the conviction.

I think most of us can even deal with levels of poaching.

Meat killing being not hit as hard. But serial POACHERS, should get to enjoy a harsher felony.

Serial car thieves are treated differently.

The compact doesn't do much. Firearm restrictions, possible employment issues, probation officers, etc might. The old days of are gone. The price of simply getting tags makes this a more serious crime.

We've seen TV hunters lose their livelihoods for lesser offenses. This stuff ain't petty crime.

Well, if the law cannot handle what they are up against, they need to let the folks (law-abiding sportsmen) handle the punishments. Just catch em, hand em over to us and we can decide what their punishment is! I've got a few good ideas that would make em think twice before poaching again. None of my ideas involve a slap on the wrist though.
