FOR YOU GUYS THAT ARE USING THE ON X MAP.

ARE YOU USING IT ON YOUR PHONE OR A HANDHELD GPS LIKE GARMIN.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES TO EACH.

SEEMS LIKE THE CELL PHONE WOULD BE MORE CONVENIENT BUT THE GARMIN MORE RELIABLE IN REMOTE LOCATIONS. THE LARGER SCREEN ON MY PHONE WOULD CERTAINLY BE ONE ADVANTAGE :)

IF YOU ARE USING THE GPS WHAT ARE YOU RUNNING IT ON BRAND/MODEL.

WHEN YOU PURCHASE A PACKAGE FROM ON X CAN IT BE USED FOR CELL PHONE AND GPS FOR SAME PRICE?

THANKS.

I have a chip in my Rihno gps radio. It works great and I can see the others in my hunting party . With the map on my phone I was always worried about my phones battery going dead. But now with our little back up batteries and solar chargers . That doesn't seem to be much of a problem anymore. We are always keeping our phone charged up for pictures or to get in contact with others. That being said on a hunt with Taylor Albrecht using his map on his phone. I really liked it. Much easier to see and move the map around. The quality of our phones now are getting bigger and better quality all of the time. So I would say phone as long as you can keep it charged up.

Been learning it on my phone this summer. I had a phone GPS issue, which rendered it somewhat useless, but now works great. Just save the offline map you need, put it on airplane mode and go for it.

Pretty slick so far. It's also nice to have one device (no Garmin) and can edit spots, etc. on your home PC.

I run it on my iPhone and am super happy with it. Haven't had any issues with reliability in remote areas, it does not require cell service for the GPS to work.

Works great on the cell phone. Use the ?off grid? option to preload the area you want, set phone to airplane mode so you're not zapping the battery searching for service and it tracks you by gps. The way I see it is I pack a phone anyway so why bother with another device? Besides, the phone screen is a lot bigger and easier to see.

I use it on my phone because the screen is so much larger. I really only use my GPS to mark specific locations. Remember to put the phone on airplane mode and you should get a full day of continuous use. I've found survey markers in some remote areas using On-X. Really accurate. It's fun when you find posted fence lines that are way off the accual property boundaries.
