Rangefinder

Looking for a good rangefinder for the buck. I want something that works in REAL life and not a metal barn 2000 yards away. Never shot a metal barn and not planning on it. I want to be able to consistently range deer/elk/antelope/etc to 800 without spending 30 minutes trying to get a read. I am retired LE so I can get discounts with Sig/Vortex/nikon and likely some others

Thanks!!!

Long range shooters like the sound of smacking metal a barn would be an easy target Ted! :)

I've never owned one...(so take it for what it is worth) but I'm told, for the money the Sig gives you the best bang for your buck! Some say they range out as well as the higher priced ones. I own a Leica 1600b which works great for the range limits I have self imposed so I've never actually looked at the Sig.
So if hear say means anything, that's my 2 bits!

LBH I have heard the asme about the Sig's....just realized they give me the discount and the site it directs me to is all out of stock except a $900 version...I kinda been looking at the 2200 they can be had new at Cabelas for $350 same price listed on the site but say out of stock i will try and call on Monday and find out the skinny

Is the $900 one the 2400 ABS? If so, that's a good price and great rangefinder.

The sig Kilo 2200 should be significantly less and they are great rangefinders without all the bells and whistles of the 2400. I didn't realize Sig did a LEO discount for optics or accessories, knew about the firearms. I will have to check it out.

I'D GET THE SIG SAUER KILO 2400ABS RANGE FINDER!

Or Wait 6 Months & get the 3600 Model!

I know so many people in so many places
They make allot of money but they got sad faces

It Ain't Easy being Me!:D:D:D

The Sig line is the way to go for a guy not wanting to spend a fortune. We have used and tested many.
They work.

I have the Sig 2200 and used it for two seasons. I love it!! It provides a very fast reading & is reliable at very long range. It is so far superior to the Vortex rangefinder I had before and is about the same price.

You can't go wrong with the 2200.

Or, you could buy a sig kilo 3000 rangefinding binocular for $1000 or so and have the best of both worlds with ranging out to 3000-5000.

Leica all the way. I got the 2400-R and beam divergence is 1.28 x .85 mrad. First scan at some trees and got an instant feedback at 1157yds. Hit it again and once again came back at 1157yds.

I go straight to the specs regardless of what the max range claim is. Look for beam divergence and that will give you an indicator of what the rangefinder can do. Anything else is just marketing mumbo jumbo.

Put my Sig Kilo 3000 to work a bit the other day. I was in Ketchum Idaho, in town shooting up at the ski mountain. Got readings out to 1893 yards to trees, very fast. Couldn't get the top of the mountain to read, but I bet it is closer to 4-5000 yards. Love them and glad I have the bino, not just a rangefinder.

I use Leica Geovids 10 x 42 with the range finders in them. Great having them in your bino's. Your have them and are using them. Might as well have a range finder in them. Mine are the old original version. I would love one of the new ballistic ones. But when they first came out they had a few bug to iron out. So for shooting I use a G Seven range finder. You can program up to five rifles in it with out changing a card. The new ones go out to 2500 yards. For target shooting. ;-)

I have the Sig Kilo 2200. It works great and haven't had an issue out to 1000 yards with it. I had a newer model and something went funky with it and I couldn't get readings passed 500 yards. I sent it in to Sig and they sent me a brand new one. Customer service was great.
