I recently moved to SE Idaho from Washington State and I am looking for a bow hunting partner that isn't afraid to put on some miles. I bought a house in Victor idaho and am looking to hunt the Tex Creek area this year for OTC deer and elk. If you are also in need of a hunting partner or even if you just want to get together to sling some arrows give me a shout.

I've wanted to move to Idaho for a long time myself from Oregon. Haven't made it yet but good for you. Hope someone reply's that lives in your new neck of the woods.

Actually the two areas I'm looking at getting my OTC are Bear River and Tex Creek. Harvest statistics look similar. Only reason I was leaning towards Tex Creek was proximity. Do you have any experience with Tex Creek?

If you already live in Victor/Driggs then you would be driving right by and thru much better elk country in your area than Tex Creek. Palisades Zone for 64/65/67 is awesome for archery elk, with only about one third of the # of hunters, similar success, and higher % of 6 pt bulls. Plus, if you weren't successful on archery, then you would have 16 more days with a rifle in Nov. for a cow. No brainer to me. Relay Ridge, Kirkham, Packsaddle are 20 minutes from your house. All of 67 and Baldy is right there over the Pass.

No 3-D but South Fork Archers has taken over exclusive control of the range at Sandy Downs. Members only, and keyed entry. Great range out to 80 yards. Good luck.

I have a Diamond creek elk tag. We have a really nice range with targets 20-80 yards in Idaho Falls and 15 minutes south of Idaho Falls there is a range in the river bottoms, 3 different routes you can take with 15-20 targets on each route at various ranges. Some targets you have a small window to get arrow through, some elevated shots. Overall an amazing range/course.

Are you interested in helping with a moose hunt? I no longer live in ID but drew a OIL bull tag for 64 this year.

You should probably make your post in the Idaho forum rather than General Hunting. There are some get after it younger hunters that live in Teton Valley nowdays, so I'm sure you'll meet some of them if you circulate around a bit. You could start by going to the Backcountry Hunters and Anglers events in the area. Jeff Klausman is the regional BHA guy and he lives in TV.

I wouldn't necessarily change your plans away from the Tex Creek units even though the Palisades units are closer. There are a lot more elk in the Tex Creek units. A lot of unit 67 in particular has very low elk densities, and there are big areas that never really hold any elk. For what it's worth I live in 67 but rarely hunt here anymore. Good luck to you.
