Reason #137 Why Squatters Suck

So me and a buddy have been camping in this spot in Island Park since Sunday June 23rd. We've been basically fishing in the mornings coming back to camp in the afternoons to nap and head back out to fish in the evenings. We each have campers on our trucks so no tents. We left camp chairs around the fire ring, a camp table and a buttload of firewood at the camp spot. On Wednesday June 26 we come back to camp after the evening fishing session in the dark to find some old F*%# has thrown our stuff in the bushes (except for the firewood, he thought he was going to make that his) and has pulled his RV into the camp spot. We have a pretty heated exchange with the old guy. He says he didn't see our stuff and someone else must have thrown it in the bushes. He lets us know he has a gun, we let him know we have guns too. So instead of beating the old geezers a$$ or getting in a gun fight with the old lying sack of crap we gather our stuff and go find another spot.

From our new camp spot we drive by our old stolen spot everyday. Turns out that squatting POS stayed one night, left his trailer and went home. He stole our camp spot so he could drop off his trailer to save that spot for the 4th of July weekend. That squatting POS shows back up on Thursday the 4th leaving his trailer there unattended since the previous Thursday.

well....you should have gone with your first instinct and beat the crap out of him......

He might have some trail cameras out so be careful.

Sneak to where his camp is down wind and start a fire, and head to town.

Yea we thought about that. Everyone we talked to said we should do things like cut his propane gas lines or hooking a chain to it and drag it out onto the road. We decided to just leave his stuff alone but we did pull into his camp every night with our brights on honking our horns for a couple minutes and yelling a few obscenities. He left sometime on Saturday. Don't know if he was planning on leaving then or we drove him to leave.

leave my trailer alone. LOL

You have way more self control than I do ! I would have crapped on his step ..... every day , until he returned !!!! Blamed it on a mountain lion !

Does somebody need some manpons out of their murse????

How about grow up?

You'll be okay. Right now all you need is a waaaambulance. Go do what the internet tough guys suggest and you'll go to jail, get your butt stomped, or dead. Maybe all three.

Be glad you and your special friend are blessed enough to not have to work for months at a time together.

Ah the internet. The world's stupid amplifier.

I'd really like to hear the other 136 reasons squatters suck as this one was good reading.

I would have stayed right where I was and partied all night. I would go outside at midnight and start shooting my pistol off and yelling at something that wasn't there. Looking crazy usually does the trick! LOL

We were camped in 201 (co) one time and this old man pulled up just before dark and decided to literally park right next to us. So me and the brother in law decided to try being obnoxious but that didn't work. The next day we decided to escalate things and walked over to see what the deal was.

Turns out he was just a lonely old man. Tom was his name and he claimed to have hunted 201 since the good old days. We drank some beers with him. I don't think he had had a hangover for several years.:). I hope someone returns the favor someday.

At First I Thought they might of been in the Back of My Truck trying to Take Something!

No!

They Were Setting up a Big Wall Tent Right next to Our Tent!

JUDAS!

Millions of Acres & The Corner of their Tent is 6" from My Tent!

Cold SOB on 3rd season in a summer time tent,NOT lightweight Tent Weather!

I Don't know if they liked the Sound of My Truck every Morning at 3:45 Idling for 30 minutes longer than it needed to?:D

I Do Believe alot of the People out of the Cities have Lived that 'Elbow to #####' Lifestyle for so long they can't stand not to do the same thing in the Hills while they are Hunting/Camping!

What are you in for? Grand larceny.

How about you? I got into a pissing match with a guy over a camping spot. He said he had a gun. Didn?t want to feel small so I told him I have a gun. Went downhill from there judge gave me 20 for manslaughter. By hell he won't camp there again. I guess I probably won't either but that's beside the point.

LOL! This thread is too funny! Life is too short to be worrying about a camp spot. If I pulled the I'll show you attitude like some have threatened they would, I would end up ruining my whole camp trip because I would be wondering what they were doing to my stuff while I was out and about.

Just let it go and move on. Not everyone thinks the same.

I had a guy walk right down into my rifle elk hunting honey hole right at prime time. He looked over at me and saw me sitting in a blind I had made out of logs. He waved and then proceeded to sit down 30 yards from me. I stood up and looked at him until he looked over at me and then threw my arms up as if to say "Really?" He quickly gathered up his stuff and headed out.

My point is, some folks are just okay with sharing a spot like that or camping right on top of another. It's hard to understand why folks behave the way they do.

Had that guy stayed, I would have walked over and talked to him and asked him to help me understand why wants to share a 200 yard area with another stranger. If he would have continued to argue, I would have left and went to plan B.

I just do not see the point in acting like a little kid over anything like what has been said on this thread. Seems like a waste of energy and degrading of your own character.

Heck, look at all the idiot drivers on the roads. There's not a whole lot you can do about them either. Unfortunately, we share the world with many that we would never choose to associate with.

There was a time in my life when I would have been very mad at someone moving in close to me after I set up camp. I could get the feeling that they were invading my space. I doubt it would come to a fight, but for sure an argument. Now, I think I would be much cooler about it. I like talking/visiting with people and I might look at it as an opportunity to make a new friend. That doesn't mean I'd be thrilled about it, but I would try to make the best of it.

Some D!ck head camped in my spot on the South Slope for the archery opener...I'd camped there since the mid 90's. We talked and hunt together every year now. Turned out to be a D!ck head just like me. We've packed out multiple elk together shared campfires and had a few cold ones to celebrate successful elk hunts. It was his first year archery hunting. Maybe try to get to know the old D!cks story. You Could have missed out on a lifetime friend.

This reminded me of my archery elk hunt in Utah a few years ago. I had hired a guide, but got to the unit several days before the opener to get the lay of the land and scoot around the roads on my motorcycle.

I pulled down this two track and find a good spot to camp as I waited for the hunt to start, only thing was there was this 30' trailer that had been parked in a spot about 50 yards from where I wanted to camp. It was clear the trailer was parked there for the owner to come in for the opener and had not been used in several days, if at all. I figured I was far enough away and even had enough room between us for my practice range (it must not have been Utah far enough - LOL).

I was there about 3 days, and had been out scouting before I was going to pull camp and meet my guide later that day. When I came back to camp there was this nasty gram on my truck windshield, and the trailer was gone.

I got a good laugh because I was packing up that day to leave.

A couple of hours later as I was pulling out to meet up with the guide and a sheriff pulls down the two track and stops.

The disgruntled guy, and called him up and made it sound like I had forced him out of his camping spot. The sheriff got a chuckle when I showed him the lay of the land and the note.

It was too bad the poor guy didn't stick around to yell at me in person, so I could leave and make him happy. That was ironic, LOL

Of course, this is like another time when I squated a waterhole the wasn't being used. I was sitting a water hole and two guys ride in on there quads after I had been there an hour. They didn't see me at first so I stood up and waived. That sure got their attention, they came over and claim that the water hole was theirs because they had a blind on it, which they did, but it was not being used.

I tried to point out that they were not using their blind and that I had a right to hunt the hole. Things started to heat up and I was thinking I was going to go. Things got testy and the guy actually threaten to shoot me if I didn't leave as he rested his hand on his sidearm. That was enough for me I think my adrenaline spiked about that time. I left up wind into the woods, then ##### and pissed a 150 yards from the water hole. I'm pretty sure they didn't see much that evening.

I called the sheriff on those guys when I got into cell range because of the threats and behavior. That one wasn't funny.

A couple of years back I had driven to a high point with my wife and two little kids in the dark, parked and was doing some glassing, pretty popular area so when I heard a truck I thought no different except when all of a sudden in my window mounted spotting scope it turned black, the dude pulled right up along side me, I honked and kinda waved like wth, he just waved back. By now I'm livid, so when he gets out to glass I get out and he sees the logo on my hoodie and says, hey I know those dudes, long story short, the dude was just dumb I guess, later that day I was heading to another spot and here was his kid freaking out cause he had shot a deer down this canyon and had wounded it, helped him finish it off and even showed the boy how to clean it before his dad had gotten there

I don't want to be friends with some squatting a-hole who steals, lies and messes with other peoples property. Not to mention when he lifted up his shirt to show us he had a sidearm. Only a cowardly little b!tch does that.

" Not to mention when he lifted up his shirt to show us he had a sidearm. Only a cowardly little b!tch does that."

Does that mean he should have drawn his weapon and emptied it into you so that he would have your manly approval????????

Once he has defiled your sacred camping area, and you have voiced your displeasure, what is move "B" for him so that he doesn't get labeled by Mr. Internettough as a "cowardly little b!tch"?

Give it a rest. Be thankful. Count your blessings. Try not to be owned by someone who you have already decided is a cowardly little b!tch.

Hey it's Try!! MM's resident midget. How you been Try? How's summer in that Shythole you live in?

Try is sticking up for a liar, a thief and a cowardly little b!tch again. He sticks up for these POS's so often I'm thinking Try is a liar, a thief and a cowardly little b!tch himself.

What's amazing towlie is that you believe any of this that happened to you is measured as brave or cowardly? You think any of this makes you or him more or less of a man??????

You want to call where I live a "shythole", which it is, BUT NOBODY IS FLASHING GUNS AT ME!

I'm not sticking up for anybody. You just can't handle the fact that you are just as stupid as the guy you are angry at.

Someday several people will make mucher better use of your organs than you did if you can't unscrew your head out of your tough guy a55.

Lmao!!!!!!

Reading isn't really your thing, is it Try?

What part of ?we gathered our stuff and left? and ?we left his stuff alone? confuses you?

Oh and it doesn't surprise me one bit that you're the type of person who would lift up your shirt and show your gun to someone you're in a argument with. I guess that's how people with little man syndrome act.

Apparently I can remember what you wrote better than you can because you forgot you wrote this.

"We have a pretty heated exchange with the old guy. He says he didn't see our stuff and someone else must have thrown it in the bushes. He lets us know he has a gun, we let him know we have guns too."

You forgot that part didn't you, boy.

Why are you here? You aren't a hunter. why do you post this garbage here? It has nothing to do with "general Hunting".

Founder, can you add a new place on the website for people who camp with their special friends and like to get internet tough?

I said it be for. Grow up, count your blessings, and be thankful!
