LAST EDITED ON Jul-19-19 AT 04:09PM (MST)[p]Hey MM'ers it's been way to long.Well over 5 years since I spent some time on the forums. I've been a member since Brian brought this little tribe of hunters together many years ago. Chances are if you have been a member as long as I have, we have probably swapped stories & pictures, shared information, or argued about something stupid:) My absence has been way to long, especially considering my love for giant mule deer and all things hunting.

I've have spent the last 5 years building SKRE Gear. It has been an awesome journey. SKRE gear was born out of the Rocky Mountain west and forged with the commitment to craft hunting apparel with zero compromise in quality, and performance at a responsible price. We also provide world class customer service, a no hassle life time warranty, and a sizing guarantee where we pay for all return shipping until your sizing is correct. We recognize hunters have many great choices in technical hunting gear and we acknowledge and commend our competition for also creating exceptional gear. If you are looking to build out a new layering system this year, and have previously worn some of the top brands in the industry, we challenge youto give SKRE gear a try. We are confident you will be impressed. We are currently offering an exclusive discount to MM members so be sure to enter discount code: MM15 at checkout.

AT SKRE we use all custom proprietary performance fabrics on all our offerings with the exception of our Merino Wool. All merino Wool offerings are 17.5-19.5 micron Merino Wool which is classified as ultafine merino wool;the highest grade of Merino Wool available in hunting apparel industry.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well, and I especially hope a few of the MM faithfuls drew a few good Tags. This is just a few highlights of who we are as a company and what we have to offer to hunters who demand hunting gear that checks all the boxes. Should you have any questions, shoot me an email at [email protected] or throw it up here on this thread for all to see.I'm terrible at checking my PM's,

Being from southern Utah I am proud what you have done with your company. I haven't purchased but I have been watching and like your new patterns and fabrics.

I use SKRE and the gear has been great. I also had some sizing issues and their customer service was top notch. I will definitely continue to buy SKRE.

Such quick service Mike! Thanks!
I needed a new jacket asap and emailed Mike on Thursday and had my new Hardscrabble jacket on Saturday...yesterday.
It's a nice jacket too!!!

Thanks to Mike, Mike, Scott and the rest for supporting Monster Muleys. I highly encourage you all to get some SKRE gear when the time comes.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-21-19 AT 11:05AM (MST)[p]Cabinfever,

If you'd like to send me free gear, I will wear it on my Utah book cliffs archery deer, Wyoming G and Colorado deer hunts. After I kill big deer, I will take lots of pictures and post it to the Gram saying how great your products are for all three of my followers to see.

Thanks

:)
Well there you go Cabinfever. One-dryboot just gave the perfect welcome back to MM post that will put a little chuckle smile on anyone's face.

Welcome back and congrats for being able to build up a good brand!

Here is another example of how hard work can make you one of the thousands. I'm sure you've worked hard and spent sleepless nights fine tuning this brand of clothing but its the same stuff as everyone else. There is nothing that sets this apart from every other hunting clothing brand out there. Its over-priced and generic. I guess those big bucks and bulls can see the price tags.

Good to hear Mike. Though I agree to a point that the hunting clothing industry is pretty saturated, I ain't gonna piss on your parade. Cheers to you for busting your ass and putting out a good product.
Though I have mostly used Sitka stuff off Ebay, the Ptarmigan jacket from you guys is awesome. I'm sure your other products are just as good, and at a lower price point than the big boys.

Congrats

You both make great points. The hunting apparel market has plenty of choices, however the consumer is always the beneficiary of a competitive market.

A little more about my background:

I have been blessed to hunt all over the world, in some of the most extreme environments on the planet. I'm not a wealthy guy. I came from a large family, and we didn't have a lot of money growing up.I guess you could say we were poor. As a young man, I had to borrow a rifle so I could go deer hunting each fall. I guess my point is, I'm a pretty regular guy, who was taught the value of work.I relate to the common man! Like so many of those who frequent MM, I work pretty hard, so I can go hunting. Over course of my life, I kind of morphed into a gear junkie. On my hunting expeditions I took a lot of mental notes. Always thinking about ways I could improve my gear. Needless to say, SKRE was born out of lots of experience in big dangerous country. We also acknowledge that we don't have the cheapest gear on the market as we are not willing to compromise on performance & quality

A few things that make SKRE different:

1)We were the first in the industry to offer a "Sizing Guarantee" where we pay for all return Shipping until your sizing is correct.

2)No one in the industry will beat our warranty and customer experience.Nobody! In the rare event you need to return something, you will never feel like you are on trial. If there is a problem, we take care of it. No questions asked! We hope you use and abuse our gear, and than give us honest feedback. We love to Listen!!!!

3) All of our lite weight fabrics, are Custom Proprietary Performance fabrics, which means we are not paying for brand recognition by partnering with big names. The result is top end performance at a responsible price.

4)Our Summit and Mtn Stealth Concealment Patterns are based off of true concealment algorithms designed by one of the best in the world. We use the same concealment algorithm technology used by the US special forces and some of the top militaries around the world.I don't wish to get into a debate about Camo vs Non Camo but since we are talking about what makes SKRE different. This is certainly one of many components. There is a reason the men and women that are in harms way to protect our country, utilize fractal Concealment Algorithms. The science is solid, and there is some great articles at www.skregear.com that put it all into perspective.

We realize our gear is not for everyone, however, if you need to update your existing gear we hope you give SKRE a consideration. We are confident, you will be impressed.

Mike have you ever thought about making pants with zip off legs and legs that are water proof so you would just switch in the field?

Deerlove we have had conversations about creating zip off pants also referred to as convertibles. We currently don't have a release date, however they could certainly become a reality in future offerings.

I made this post in January 2018 under the Hunting Gear Forum.
I've since had the opportunity to wear the SKRE hardscrabble pants and it's a quality product that held up well elk hunting in Colorado. I would not hesitate to buy another pair. I do not own any other SKRE gear so I can't make an evaluation.

"Just spent some time comparing the Kuiu Attack pants versus the SKRE Hardscrabble pants side by side. Very similar in material quality and seem pretty identical in design including the pockets and vents. Both run on the smaller size, SKRE maybe a bit smaller that Kuiu. If you wear a size 34 or 35 waist in normal pants you'll need the size 36. The belt loops are a little more stout on SKRE. Although the zippers look the same, Skre adds nice rubber pull tabs on theirs and the SKRE zippers seem to open and close easrier. SKRE adds something around the waist band to keep shirts tucked in. KUIU seem to fit me a little better and ride higher around the waist. I'm 6'-1" 210 lbs with a small beer gut. I've only worn the KUIU product hunting/scouting so I can't make a comparision on how they'll hold up."

Best of luck to your company Mike

Thanks for the kind words. I'm happy to report that we have made a few small sizing amendments so our pants are now running true to size.

This is currently my 4th year wearing SKRE gear and I have been nothing but pleased with the performance. I own just about every piece of gear they offer and have scouted/hunted in just about every condition the backcountry has to offer. The gear has been well worth its weight in gold. It's quality gear that is light weight, durable and functions in every situation I've put it through.

Perhaps even more impressive than the gear itself, is the customer service at SKRE. It is as good as you will find. Everyone I have made contact with--on the phone or in person--about gear questions, sizing, etc. has gone above and beyond what I expected. I have noticed that they have listened to feedback and made improvements to certain clothing items and continue to launch new items that people have expressed interest in. They have made it easy to get behind as a customer and I would highly recommend trying their stuff out.

Alwayshunting

I like your screen name......wish I was always hunting.

SKRE is an Extreme Hunting Apparel Company with HQ in Southern Utah, however I assume you probably already knew that part.

The name comes from the word scree (correct name) which is pronounced (/skrē/). We preferred the pronunciation in logo form over the correct term, so we went with it.Hence the name SKRE. Scree is an accumulation of loose stones or rocky debris lying on a slope or at the base of a hill or cliff. Most hunters refer to them as a rock slides, and I haven't met a hunter alive that enjoys traversing them. They are rugged and most the time treacherous to cross. If you have hunted Dall sheep in Alaska, you know them all to well. Since we craft rugged gear for extreme hunters, we felt the name was fitting.

I made use of my new jacket and hat on my last scouting trip. Very nice gear. I like those chest pockets. Haven?t found anything small to put in the arm pocket though.
Thanks Mike. You?ve done well.

Darn it Cabin fever just spent a 1/2 hour on your web site ..no 40 tall inseams
No "tall" 2x jackets. If you ever make a small run of tall sizes in the Hard scrabble I'm in..Trust me there's guys out here who would pay extra and lot extra for 4 more inches of inseam and 2 to 4 more inches of sleeve length.
The guys I know running your gear LIKE IT!! Just to short for me.

Mike 6'4 230. Wear 40 by 38 wranglers. need 39 waist.
Sleeves need 38 minimum. Cabelas 2 x tall shirts used to be long enough. They have shortened their sleeves lately.
Did order a 3x hoody from you this AM and a pair of your 40 shorts...to try your sizing.. could live with 36 inch in your hard scrabble with the inch and a 1/2 let out you mentioned but you only have 34 in 40 waist. Wear gaitors in late hunts to make up the short inseam all you guys make..i don't want to wear them for early hunts. First lite XT are best fit I can find still a tick short. With no hip vents but I like them. Buddy runs your pants love to have a pair if you can get close to 38 in a 39/40 waist.

Tomichi

First off, I hope to never get on your bad side. You are built like a lineman!!!!

We have some extra hardscrabble material. If you have a seamstress you could have them add the necessary length to the size 40 Hardscrabble pants. The extra material would be on the house.

I'm also going to look into making you a custom pair. This could be a bit timely and expensive but let me see what I can do.

Well, if you're gonna make one, you better make 2. You would do well to offer sizes for us larger sized idiots... I only buy from places that offer tall and they're hard to find. Like tomichi said, cabelas used to be my go to, now I'm assed out. Didnt know firstlite had an option. Thanks for the tip tomichi, I'll look into it.

So Founder, when does the contest for the SKRE gear start per the title which is why I got on this thread in the first place, or is this just an infomercial for a special friend/advertiser?

Been thinkin about trying this stuff out for some time. Now that i know who / where it came from its definately time to try some. Good for you Cabin.

-Cass
