70 Elk Dead.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-12-04 AT 04:52PM (MST)[p]I don't know if any of you (Utahns) saw this on the news but it is about all these elk dying trying to cross a lake in Idaho that the ice breaks and they just end up dying there are some pretty bad pictures if you watch the story.

Yeppers, its is a pretty sad deal to say the least. There are a lot of elk trying to cross the ice at certain spots on Lucky Peak Reservoir just east of Boise. I saw it on the news tonight where some wildlife biologists have had to shoot many of them just to put them out of their misery. Idaho F&G and others are trying all and anything they can to keep the elk from crossing the ice but it is a struggle. Here are a couple of links for those interested in reading more:

My son lives up there and said he saw a bunch of them in the water this weekend. Really too bad.
