Here it is

My daughter Kaoitlyn modeling the shed that is taller than her!
Here are some of my amatuer yet CONSERVATIVE measurments:
Spread 57"
points 16-4=12 scoreable
width of palm 13"
length 39"
Circumference 8"
= 72 x 2 = 144 + 57 = 201
That score would make it a new state record (barring major deductions) but with a person having lots of experience scoring moose I believe it could go 217+
I do realize we only have one side of this bull but for the sake of excitement and assumption I multiplied 72 twice and the spread of the bull is hard but I measured from base of antler to the widest point multiplied by 2 and added 5 inches giving me 57". A couple of the points that are broke are broke where they could give this bull more than a 60" spread (if intact- even on the other side)
This shed was picked up Jan. 19th this year.
Please feel free to give me some advice on scoring etc. (I didnt know what or where the 'bay' was till a month ago!)
Joe,
Feel free to add some of your pictures of this bad boy.

Jovan, I hope you draw and smack a big one in the unit you applied for. my wife keeps asking me when my moose refund is coming too, she already took care of my sheep refund!

Jeff

Jeff,

You were not kidding, that thing is HUGE! I cant wait to see that thing in person.

Drum

would not suprise me if that ting scored that high, i would say the spread sounds about right. keep looking for the other side, that would be sweet to find both sides.

THE NORTH FORK HUNTER

I wonder how he broke all those points. I can't imagine any other Shiras that would want to spar with that monster. If that is for sure a Shiras, I really, really, really need it for my shed collection. How much does it weigh? I'm guessing around 18 lbs. Great find. If you need any help looking for the other side, let me know. I can keep a secret. Really, I can. I swear.

Yes it is a northern Colorado Shiras moose.
I cant take credit for finding it, a friend did, he has spent over 90 hours looking for the other side since January of this year. We are afraid somebody else has the other side.
Hopefully a different friend draws a rifle tag, he has max points 3 + 4 so he is in the runnning, but may have 4-7% chance!!
I'll have to ask Joe how much it weighs.
Anybody else verify my scoring?
Jeff

Maybe the BeanMan will have a shot at him if the DOW is kind to me today. I haven't been able toget results, the CDOW somputer is down.

BeanMan

Good luck beanman!

I only have 2 points for moose. I know I wont draw but I gotta look!!

Yeah I wonder if this bull is at the max antler growth age but physically could be challenged by a bull 1 or 2 years younger than him and that may have caused the broken points.
Jeff

Thats a real find! not everyday you see the words "world record" and its actually legit! Very nice...

Here are some more pictures of it.

Finally, with my best fresh sheds for all the types of deer in Colorado.

*Keep in mind that I am 6'5"*

The shed weighs a little over 16 lbs fully dried. I would just about kill for the match.

I have problems and need to see a doctor about my shed hunting addiction.

Sweet Joe! welcome to MM!!!
Did the wife let you keep the moose sheds from saturday?
Jeff

She's hesitant about it so I don't know if I want to push my luck. You're welcome to them if you want. He's got a pretty good spread for a small guy (~40"). I was thinking of making up a little head harness and then mounting them to my cat's head so I can pretend to hunt moose in the apartment.

Nice moose shed. Good long paddle. Anyway here is one of mine that is in the top ten in the world.

LAST EDITED ON May-17-06 AT 11:05PM (MST)[p]Sweet shed!!
CAn you give me some measurements, etc...
I think I count 13 points?
The width of that bruiser looks to be 15"??!!!!
Thanks for sharing!
My buddy didnt draw the unit, oh well looks like we may have a chance at his sheds again!!!
Jeff

LAST EDITED ON May-17-06 AT 11:17PM (MST)[p]Very nice looking Shiras shed indeed. Definately looks like it probably would be in that 200 inch range if the other side was similiar. Here's a set of Southern BC sheds that a buddy of mine found. SCI considers this area to be Shiras, whereas B&C thinks that the border magically stops them. ;) This set scores right at the 200 inch mark.

Very nice BCBOY! Its good to see others moose sheds to compare. What did you estimate his spread to be? Would you mind throwing out a few measurements of those bad boys?
Thanks

Jeff
