You've got 14 seconds to decide, would you take him? Or are your hopes much higher this year?

With the tag I have in my pocket? It would take all of about 2 seconds to decide that I'm going to pull the trigger!

Given I didn't draw a tag and will be hunting general season that buck wouldn't even need a second thought. Smoke him.

I'm wondering what I'm expected to do with the other 13.5 seconds? Bang.

Depends on the unit. But guessing he is G or H so I would pass. Shallow in back and not exceptional in front, mass or width.

I have a general season deer tag this year in Utah. I agree with DW?s statement above.

I won't need more than 1 second to decide. The other 13 seconds are for steadying and hopefully celebrating!

So easy to say pass when looking at it on your phone. Completely another story when that things running around with a swollen neck and polished off.

I have a few tags this year. Ide fill one tag with a buck like that, and shoot for the stars with the others.

Honestly this is one of those deer that gets you right on the fence. In reality I would probably stare at him for the 14 seconds trying to decide. I would be hoping he would stand to give me a look at his body. This buck ain't no baby and he is all around good. No one characteristic is outstanding but when all parts of him are good its best to take a serious look and do some math. This deer could get away from me but I would be studying the heck out of him and might make a decision in the thirteenth second and smoke him. Most of the time you take an all around good buck that's mature and no junk on the rack and he should score right about 175.

Thanks for sharing.

With him laying there chewing his cud, I'd think I have more than 14 seconds. He's a good buck, but not a no brainer.

I'd likely pass him, but I would sure be tempted. I would be scouring the area around him looking for his big brother.

Maybe he's one of those mature bucks you keep talking about that just won't get any bigger.

Good question, though. Thanks, and you are sneaky to get those good pics.

No wonder the deer success rates are so low! All you guys pass deer like this.
Bang and brag!

I passed on a TON of bucks in G this caliber in 2016.
Still went home empty handed with no regrets.
The only buck I had a legitimate chance to harvest got shot out from underneath me and scored 180.
This buck......Easy decision. I'd pass
It's go big or go home for me

Draw tag, Gotta keep looking. Pretty but not deep enough on the forks. General, well, he might just be in trouble.

If I only had 14 seconds to decide I would pass. If he sat there bedded long enough, I'd probably end up shooting him. I don't think he will quite make it to 170.

He is pretty small and has weak back forks. Let him live and look for a bigger one. They are out there.

I wish I'd have taken enough bigger bucks in my lifetime to say that I'd pass, but I wouldn't hesitate on that buck. Very symmetrical, deep enough forks for me...boom, lots of smoke!

He's bigger than any mulie I've killed, so he's a shooter. If I had several 180's+ on the wall, probably pass.

Nice deer but with an 87 tag in my pack he gets an easy pass........If that tag was a general tag it would take 1/2 a second to be getting the gun on him. If I don't get him someone else will, odds are not good he will make another year

>Pass..
>Smacked

Hard decision and depends on the tag for me. With my Utah General season tag I would shoot him. With a better tag I may have to pass. I'm guessing he's about 160 ish?
