I finally got to fill my tag last Wednesday morning at 7:00 am thanks to South Peak Outfitter owner Derek Harris. I can't say enough nice things about this young man. First Class hunter - patience of Job, eternal optimism, skilled professional, unending energy. He enabled this old man to shoot the old ram! Great hunt, great country, great experience and great ram!

Thanks for posting the picture! I am still smiling! Hardest part about the hunt was putting up with old age reality, you get bum knees or damaged foot problems as you get older. The climb down in the Canyon or back out points out these ailments. But as Derek said, it wouldn't be a sheep hunt if you didn't have to climb! We were done hunting on the 3rd day at 7:00 am. Saw 21 rams on the 1st day! Zeroed in on this guy the 2nd day, put him to bed and shot him the next morning! No it wasn?t tough! Derek and his guide Carlo made it great for me! They did the hard part! Beautiful, memorable Rio Del Norte Bighorn Ram for me, probably ?my last sheep hunt.?
