How much will a bears patterns change because of fires from one year to the next? I'm with in striking distances of drawing a LE Bear tag in Utah next year. Most likely, I'm looking at two years before I draw a tag. When I draw a tag this will be my first bear hunt.

I've had an area picked out for a couple of years now that I have seeing bear in. I started this spring putting up trail camera's to try and locate the best drainage to hunt. But the area I have been watching was burned up buy one of the states largest fires this summer. My question is, do you think the bear's will be pushed out of the area completely and are unlikely to return next spring? Should I be scouting plan B this fall in anticipation of plan A not working out? Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Not that I'm an expert, but I would think that all the new growth because of the fire would bring in bears. I would say keep watching it and don't give up on it. If you think you're looking at two years before you draw the tag, I would guess everything would be back to normal.

No expert either, but I'm told bears like seclusion, and they like certain types of feed at certain times of the year. So if you think your area still holds those things by "tag time" then it might still be good for a bruin.
