Left over draw

Well thinking you are a shoe in for a tag is setting yourself up for disappointment for sure. Did not draw a CO deer tag that after 18 years thought it was just that. Now with unsuccessfuks in UT, CO, NM and WY I'm stuck with nothing. Did not apply for a WY deer or antelope cause to the CO tag I thought I was going to draw.

To the point I and looking a trying to get a left over antelope tag in WY and going out with a friend who has never been out west. Quality of goat is not an issue. Any suggestions.

Wait till after results which should be the 18th and take a look at the list see what’s available, pick an area and apply!! See what kind of HMA’s or walk in areas are available and see what public land is out there and go hunt, especially since size is of no concern, should be antelope if there is tags!!

Colorado left me disappointed also. Hunt took 13 points to draw last year, I applied with 15 thinking for sure, nope. Took 17 this year. Next year with later season probably even bigger point creep.

Thats what I'm thinking that 2021 might be even worse. Well I decided to us up my Iowa points and will look at WY antelope.

Better rub your lucky rabbits foot, leftover odds will probably be worse than your other hunts.
Why do u say that? I’ve been amazed this yr in that applications seem to be up across the west in general. It just doesn’t add up w the state of the economy, covid etc? What’s your thoughts as to why the increase demand

Well if I could ever draw maybe I’ll find out. Shoulda got a general tag several yrs ago and went hunting. My stupidity
I assume your talking elk? Not to late to get a general tag, Next year get it and go hunt, some pretty good general elk huntin to be had.

That is interesting I have 3 right now. Do you draw general tag for a specific unit. I just checked and it does not appear the Elk tags available are listed yet.

There will not be any NR General Elk tags in the leftover draw.

If you draw a NR General elk tag you can hunt Any of the units listed in the regulations as Gen. You can also purchase an archery stamp and hunt with your bow then come back with a rifle if needed.
