Pine Valley Bow

Planning on retiring the St George, Cedar City area in the next few years so I burned points for a Pine Valley archery deer this year. Anyone out there want to trade some info? Ive hunted AZ, NV, CO, SD and CA and can provide detailed info. Not looking for anything special, just a point in the right direction. PM me if you'd like....Thanks in advance.

Most of the deer are concentrated towards the northern parts of the unit. Higher elevations and water are where they’ll be.

Hey Jake,

I drew the archery tag as well, I have a pretty good starting point I think but I'd love to pick your brain on a camping spot or water needs given how dry it is this year. I may shoot you a message

have a good filter with you for drawing water. There's a lot of cows on that unit.

My son and I pulled these archery tags this year any info or help would be great! How did you guys do last year? Any pix? Spot and stalk or sit water?

With how hot and draw it already is, waters looking like your best bet. If you can find it!
I’d look around the Enterprise area, might find some water out that a way. Although I didn’t hunt PV last year, most of my friends/family struggled to find deer altogether out there. The wife and I hunted Zion, it was the same story. Hot, dry and a late migration on the rifle hunts. Hopefully some monsoons start up soon.

I would say spot and stalk. I live on the Zion unit and have not be out on pine valley this year since I have a limited buck tag. The monsoons have been pretty good so the deer will be spread out.

I have hunted it once since it’s harder to draw and likely will start hunting it as dedicated next year.

Last year was the worst I've seen on Pine Valley. I did shoot a smallish 4x4 on the last day during the muzzy hunt. I hope this year isn't as bad as last year was, I will know in just over a month. I've hunted it most years since the early 80's so I don't feel the need to scout ahead of time.

Buy a spot and stalk cougar tag to have in your pocket. The last few years we have seen numerous carcasses from cougar kills in the area we hunt on PV. Buddies ran into and photographed a cougar in same area this last weekend archery hunting deer. Also seen tracks of cougars around the water source. I informed them about the spot and stalk tag and them were going to go to town and get one just in case.

I purchased mine already for this year for Muzzy deer and muzzy elk. Have seen cougars , sign and tracks on both in the past.
