Here is to the start of a great 2020 hunting season. I am still waiting to here most of tags results. So far my son has a General Youth Utah Elk and that’s it. Hopefully June draws will be good to us. In the mean time always trying to stay busy with the kids and outdoors

Got a great workout today with a 15mile round trip. I had not been into this place in 20years. Not sure why but it was time to get back there and catch a few golden trout. Had a great time caught browns, rainbows and some goldens. Getting some reloading done this week with a few chores and will be back on a different river this weekend

Got another weekend of fishing in with the boys. Camped at a turn out in the road and played cards the evening before.
We had a hard hike out but the fishing was well worth it. These two have such different personalities but I am glad to get them both out on the river. We caught and released over 60 fish over five hours on the river. Nothing really big today mostly 13-15inch natives.
Plan for this week is to get some stuff done around the house and get ready for the family fishing trip coming up soon.

Another trip in the books. Spent 7 days relaxing and playing camp host to my kids and sisters family. Caught some fish, ate great, and just enjoyed the family. Couple more small fishing trips in before we leave for Utah elk scouting. I also need to get back in to my deer spot I have been planning to hunt the last few years. All in all the draws did not treat us that well this year and will have to get it done in general deer seasons that have roughly 7% success rate. Oh well.

Well as we get a little more into
July we will start moving more towards hunting mode and out of fishing mode. We have a couple more fishing trips planned before we leave for Utah to scout for elk at the end of the month. After that it’s all hunting for the rest of the year
Was able to get my middle daughter (8) down to the river for her first real trip. She did great and caught 13 trout on spinners. She was proud that she was the only one not to lose a lure on the trip. The hike out was an hour uphill and she did good. Here is to another kid that I get to share my adventures with.

Made another trip to the range. He shoot 30-40 rounds today standing off shooting sticks at 100-200yards at steel. He was hitting a 8 inch plate about 80-85% of the time. I think he will be good at to 300ish from prone and sitting and under 200 for standing.
Few more weeks to go

Well the bow opener was a hot one out here. Left the house at 2:30am and when we got to the trail head at 5:30 it was already above 80degrees. After six hours of fighting the heat we had to call it a day. My wife has been battling some health issues for the last year so time in the mountains can be limited to her health. The plan was to put in 3 days but with our Utah hunt coming up and my wife’s health it was cut short. Opening more we saw a sow and two cubs at 80 yards and a couple does. So I count that as a success. We squeezed in a couple hours Sunday evening sitting a water hole and watched a coyote and a couple does come down for a drink. It’s funny how the older I get the more things seem to slow down and I get more enjoyment just being able to get out.
My wife is doing a little better so hopefully we can get out for a 3 day weekend and get a buck on the ground. We hunt a pretty hard zone so it’s important to get a few hunts back to back to connect.
