Well our shortened 2020 season concluded a little while ago, it was sad not to have our American friends up hunting with us in 2020 but we pushed through and brought in a few Canadian hunters who wouldn’t regularly be able to hunt with us. As it turned out we went 5 for 5 on Archery Hunts and 2 for 2 Rifle Hunts making a 100% success season on Mule Deer! While we would usually have more hunters in the season it’s still worth noting! Our guides and crew did an excellent job as usual and we were able to leave some awesome young bucks with big potential out there for the coming years, the future looks bright and we are excited to hopefully have an open border in 2021!

All great bucks.
Kind of hard for me to stomach. All those great bucks north of the boarder and just a bit south you are hard pressed of find a 160.

Wow, those are some great bucks! You guys did well. That’s pretty crappy about the border being closed. Hopefully things get much closer to normal again in a short time.

Here’s a link to their website if anyone is looking to hunt up there.

Awesome Congrats on the great successful season. With some Archery bucks like that looks like I need to look into those type of hunts. Can you add some info about what it would take for a non resident to get in on something like this and save me a little homework? :)

Thanks for the link I guess I missed this before I made my post.

What are your thoughts on the border opening up for next year - 2021?

Nice Bucks- So with Alberta if you have your Canadian Citizenship but live in US what are the rules for going up there on a hunt?

Anyone heard from Jesse at Rough Country? We have an archery deposit with him this September and he has been MIA since January - social media, cell phone, emails - all have gone unanswered!!!

That can’t be good. Seems that Canada has more than its share of questionable outfitters.

From my experience a lot of good outfitters are difficult to get in contact with. If they are good they don't have to spend a lot of time marketing their hunts and they might have a ton of emails and voice mails to deal with.

I don't know anything about your outfitter but I have an Alberta whitetail hunt booked this year and I have been having the same problem getting in contact with him.

The Alberta spring black bear season just ended and they could have been out hunting. I know my outfitter has limited cell service where he lives. Outfitters sometimes go hunting themselves or go on vacation. Some of them during the winter hunt show season are traveling and tied up with the shows. My outfitter has $65K sheep hunts so he might be answering those calls first.

I wouldn't be too alarmed yet. Just keep trying.

Difficult to contact is one thing (especially during some times of the year) but no contact since January with phone, email, social media, etc... is another. I'd reach out to someone (perhaps law enforcement) in the community where he lives and see if you can get an update on his status.

Hard to get up with is one thing, but to deliberately take down your business web site and facebook page is a sure sign that he is no longer operating under that business name. He posted here pretty often and listed/promoted his hunts on this website but hasn't posted since February of 2021.

I don't know the guy, never hunted with the guy, can't say a bad thing about the guy or business. But all the signs of closed are there.

Yeah, I didn't realize the web site and the Facebook site had been taken down. That sounds like a problem.

This is a link to the Alberta Professional Outfitters Society. You might try to contact them, I think this is the Alberta licensing board. They could tell you if they still have a valid license.
