Drew DB375 (Fall Unimak bear) as an Alaska Resident. Now looking into transport/drop-off options for anyone that has hunted this recently. (All the threads I find are fairly old)

Thanks for the information

Ben

Friend did the hunt a few years ago, the outfitter for the area is also the transporter for the area.

Good luck on your trip!

I hunted bou with Rod and know he flies out foe those bear hunts. That’s about all I know. He knows what the hell he is doing as well.

Did you do the guided option or just have him drop you? I am always a bit nervous getting dropped off by someone who I assume will be saving his premier spots for his guided clients (understandably)
As a NR I had to go guided. Unimak is as u know in the middle of nowhere and desolate. The bears are huge, I would have had to bring along a friend to help even if I was unguided. Hell of a hunt and Rod knows the island as he has hunted it for decades.

@AkBenjo how'd your hunt end up?
Went great. Elected to get flown by Rod Schuh who was fantastic. Weather held us up a bit and made it out October 1, harvested my bear on October 3. Didn’t ever get an official hide measurement but 28.5 on the skull.

With Governor's License, big game locking tag & hunt permit secured for Unimak Brown Bear (SB377) GMU10, approximately what might it costs for outfitter/guide services to hunt? Any other outfitters/guides information available other than Mr. Schuh? Thank you.
