Heading out by myself this fall for my antelope hunt. Plan on fishing the N Platt a few days but understand the duck hunting can be any good. Any information would be appreciated. Can I get into birds of public land?

If we don't get a brutal cold snap that freezes up everything you'll have a great hunt.
Without a dog you may well need that fishing rod to retrieve your ducks, via a spinner. Wind usually will blow them to one side or the other of a pond.
Be wary, some of our residents ducks can taste just like the alkaline water they are swimming in.
We'll have a variety of species to hunt too.

Tracker... when are you going? My buddy and l drew antelope tags in 68, plan on fishing the North Platte and are big duck hunters as well.
I shoot a lot of ducks on the Platte. The Platte doesn't hold a lot of birds since feed is scarce around Casper/Alcova area. But if you hit it right when birds move down from the north it can be great. With that being said there are always ducks around to have a decent shoot/hunt.
